Sony
Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer & gameplay demo.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance DLC trailer.
Metro: Exodus trailer.

Surely they've got to finally show off Resident Evil 2 this year.

Not sure whether to be excited about this one.

If it's by the same developers as Fallout and The Elder Scrolls then I'm expecting it to be pig ugly with PS2 level character models.

Hopefully I'm wrong, I need something to get over the disappointment of Mass Effect Andromeda.

REALLY excited for this one, I just hope they can please all fans by offering 3 different camera types to satisfy Resi 1-3 fans, 4-6 fans and 7 fans.

I think they can make an option for third person, first person and over shoulder cameras without changing the gameplay.

Regarding Retro, I think people are going to go crazy whatever happens.

If they don’t show, people are going to panic.

If they do show, people are going to go crazy that it’s not Metroid Prime 4/whatever other game they’ve built up in their head over the last 4 years.

I think it will be a pretty boring E3 this year.

I can’t see any major hardware announcements being made this year, the only thing I can see happening would be Sony maybe announcing a revised version of the PS4Pro that can play 4K blu-rays.

I don’t think there will be any surprising games either, new trailers for the blockbusters we already know about, maybe a few sequel announcements.

My only prediction (based on nothing but hope) is that Sony will have seen what MS have done with backwards compatibility and have been working on it. They will announce that PS1 and PS2 games are coming to the PS Store and also that they have an emulator that will play most PS3 games.

Emulation of PS1/PS2 games would be fairly straight forward, obviously PS3's Cell architecture obviously makes emulation awkward, but there's no excuse for not being able to play games from the previous PS systems.

It was a major MAJOR pain in the ass for MS to get BC up and running properly, I'm not sure Sony will feel the need to pour time and resources into it when they are in the lead.

Yup, Microsoft outclass Sony when it comes to backwards compatibility.

Sony have been around for 20+ years & don’t have a lot to show for it.

More of the same, with 100 player death match modes tacked on in some cases.

Looking forward to a potential showing of The Avengers game though. I'm hoping it could end up being some RPG lite type game in the vein of the Ultimate Alliance titles.

Damn, looking through that list reminds me of when Sony's first party output consisted of average dross like Primal and Mark of Kri, the Jak & Daxter sequels weren't much to shout about either.

Sony's first party has come a LONG way.

It's only the PS4 that Sony have been poor on BC; PS1 ran great on the PS2; PS1 and PS2 games ran 95% of the time very well on PS3...at launch (are there any working 60GB consoles left?). PS1 still plays nigh on flawlessly no matter what PS3 you have however.

The biggest difference with MS is that they're making old games look better for free if you already own the disc, whereas Sony (with third parties) would rather you purchase a remade version. There's no reason you'd want to play the PS3 versions of Uncharted or Shadow of the Colossus when the PS4 versions now exist, but you're at the mercy of Sony and others getting round to it (and being charged £25-£30 again for the privilege).

Just had a thought, Rocksteady's game must be nearing completion, I'd say that has the potential to be there.

But all roads lead to Cyberpunk for me.

I can think of one VERY good reason why people might.

You're probably right tbh, and throw in the three different voice actors they'll use for the entire game too.

Of course I jest.

I do so hope that the metal gear solid remake rumour is true though, what joy.

Rapidly-greying is Mediocre to Average at games :fp:
