Before anyone starts complaining read the bloody topic title I know it's far too early for an 2018 E3 topic but I'm doing it anyway so screw you.

What 3 things would you like to see at E3. For me it's

1. A new controller and possibly camera for Playstation VR.
I know some will complain about this but the system just needs a new and improved control scheme as the wands they have now are just dated and new controllers could really help the overall package just become much better as the headset itself is great.

2. Microsoft really going all in on the Xbox One X and showing why it's a worthwhile purchase by just showing games running better on the system.
Sony has done a pitiful job (I own a PS4 and Pro) of showing why you need a Pro and apart from VR I'd be hard pressed to be honest if I was trying to convince anyone on here to go with a Pro as a first time PS4 buyer.
As long as the normal Xbone and X play the same games I think Xbone owners will be able to handle the fact that a newer version of the machine is better so don't need to be shielded from information that potential Xbox X owners need to decide if it's worth it or not.

Show the X in all it's glory.

3. The Last of Us 2.

This one for me is simple. The Last of Us was the greatest multiplayer game I've ever played and it was with lovely people on here and I just want more of that please.

So, 3 things for E3 2018.

The problem with this is that people have bought Move controllers now and they've already released the Aim controller as well. I don't think yet another controller is what's required, even if there obviously are issues with the tech in the Move controllers, replacing the whole system doesn't seem viable for PS4.

On the other hand, some kind of optional 360/Room scale tracking add-on would be good. The only problem is the PS4 doesn't really have the USB ports to support adding extra stuff, I guess a PSVR compatible USB hub would be required.

Move was released in 2010 do you really think people will be that shocked that an upgrade is being offered?
As long as games all work with both control schemes I think they could just go with the "Pro" branding.

I know I'd pick up a new camera and handsets if they combined all the great features of the latest sets on offer elsewhere and as far as I know none of them are patent protected ideas so can be ruthlessly stolen and used. As I said the headset itself is great the only thing needing an upgrade is the cheapest components.

That's one hell of an SEO-friendly topic title, I'll give you that.

The issue is that they just re-released the Move last year with PSVR, so although the tech is old I'm sure most people playing with the controllers bought them recently and this year we've had the AIM controller (which is pretty damn good, although obviously limited somewhat in that it can't be track your hands independently).

To completely replace the system they've already got is probably £150 additional price, at that point you've got something more accurate that can do room scale games, the problem there being that room scale games won't work with the existing controllers.

I just can't see it being viable for developers to make games to take proper advantage of it in terms of numbers of people who they could sell to.

Well I'm in and I reckon I could convince Chalky into a purchase so that's 2 sales they have right away so how many more can they possibly need?

I think we'll have to wait until something like 2023 for PS5 VR, I'd expect it to have the following though...

- Fully wireless
- Inside out tracking, no external sensors
- Room scale movement
- 4K OLED screen
- PS Move 2 with finger sensing

I think even the Pro versions of next gen consoles will be completely unable to manage 4K VR as the power requirement is just so high.
Getting decent 4K on one screen is hard enough if you want all the other bells and whistles and 60fps that even being generous and saying next gen Pro will be like a current PC with dual Titan x, i9 cpu and 32GB ram (obviously I have no idea if that's how powerful it'l be but I'm hoping next gen pro can at least match the best from PC today) will struggle with 4K VR and graphically and physics intensive games and I'd rather have a comfortable overhead for stability than have all games struggle like hell just to reach 4K.

I didn't think it would really happen. I don't think there will even be a PS5, more a continuation of incremental updates like with Pro. Not that I'd buy a PS5 anyhoo, rather spend the money upgrading my PC.

Sony have already confirmed that there will be a PS5 and that it won't be an incremental update.

Rather than just 4k, something with a much wider field of view would be nice. The StarVR solution has two 1440p panels to manage it.

They have?

How dull.

I was rather hoping Pro was the first step in dropping the frankly outdated 'hit the reset button and start all over again" business model.

Why would it make a difference to you?

If its just backwards compatibility, then actually there's a decent chance of getting a PS5 that will play PS4 games, seems unlikely they are going to opt for a massively different CPU/GPU next time.

Sticking with AMD x86 architecture should make backwards compatibility a doddle unlike the transition from Cell to x86 last time around.

It makes a difference because a PS5 would see PS5 only games from the off (not to mention having to buy additional peripherals etc compatible with the system) making the ps4 pretty much redundant - as is always been with consoles. Sorry, it's not a business model I'm willing to support anymore.

So instead you want a business model with no real reason to upgrade to a new console?

I've bought a PS4 Pro and I might end up getting an Xbox One X, but another console with no exclusive games? That's not a business model I'm willing to support.

Why on earth would that be something that you'd actively want?

Imagine games in 10 years still having to support the current base PS4/XBO hardware :dread:
