Electronic Arts announced today the development team behind the popular Sims franchise is expanding its offices in Salt Lake City, Utah as it begins to create a new, "groundbreaking" project.

"We're truly thrilled to expand into Salt Lake City and what is becoming a growing and dynamic video game development scene," said Ben Bell, Executive Producer at EA. "We're looking to fill several critical leadership positions on an exciting new project."

According to EA's careers website, some of the positions available include Creative Director, Art Director, and Technical Director. Details about this new project were not revealed at this time.

What happened to that game EA were making with a couple of high profile Japanese lads ... whose names I forget. One of 'em may have been that Suda fellow.

They will probably show the Suda 51/Shinji Mikami/EA thing at E3 this year. If they don't, it has probably been scrapped.

This may seem like a load of nothing to most but it might well be worth getting excited about, EA have really transformed across the board in recent years. Introducing great new IPS, breathing new life into stale old IPS and acquiring some other good licenses and such like. They were always a major player in the industry anyway but it's nice to see that just because they have alot of the top sporting licenses doesn't mean they have to be content with that and are still looking to take on some of the genre-leading franchises and make more of a mark on the industry as a whole.

I don't think the name or any other details have been made available about the game yet but I could be wrong.
