I would be surprised if that turned out to be the case, considering we're past the first anniversary of the DRM reversal. Certainly, it's been long enough that the Xbone DRM shouldn't be a factor.

Very interesting. Skimming through the lengthy GAF thread it seems to be getting a very positive reception so it looks like they've got the pricing right.

I'm assuming this means we won't be seeing any EA games offered as PS Plus or Xbox Gold freebies going forward then?

It sounds like a good deal and at least they are trying to figure how to extract value from their back catalogue in a way that doesn't screw over consumers.

Any chance MS and EA will run some sort of cross promotion of this before Christmas? Buy a year of Xbox Gold, get EA Access free?

Nicks rocking in his bedroom corner frothing from his mouth as we speak.

This seems interesting, though given EA's track record, it seems too good to be true.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Could you not buy those games today and then trade them in for less than £20? It'd be a good deal if you got to play any title you wanted and not old games.

The cynic in me expects EAs next batch of games to have more in game purchases then ever before. And be broken etc.

Will EA Access be available in my country?

At launch, EA Access will be available in Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, United Kingdom, and the United States with additional territories to follow.

Guys this is EA, they wouldn't be doing this if it was going to save everyone money and lose money from them. There's a catch that we haven't be informed about yet, probably related to the access we gain.

Maybe MS are the ones taking the hit.

Think I'll probably sell my copy of Battlefield 4 and use the funds to pay for a year of this. Wish I hadn't forked out for Peggle 2 now though.

I think in reality, "gain access" means play a demo, or small portion of the game, then pay a slightly reduced price to "unlock" the full game, there's simply no way it could be what is being portrayed now. When you look at how many copies EA sells of Fifa, battlefield etc, they would basically be saying they don't want money anymore by doing this, and the install base would have to be significantly higher, perhaps by 100x, to make the possibility of gaining enough new subscribers who wouldn't originally have touched an EA game plausible.

If Season Pass is anything to go by, the previews will be the full game, albeit time limited to five days before launch. The idea being that you try before you buy (ideally on launch day for full price). No idea how that's going to affect sales of single player games such as Dragon Age though.

Yeah, that almost certainly means no more EA games on Gold, and Plus as soon as they start the scheme on PS4.

I think the idea is that brand new games aren't available straight away on the service. So you have to fork out if you want, say, Fifa 15 on day one. If you're happy to play four or five months down the line then you can via the subscription.
