I very much doubt they are, you're forgetting at the outset that EA offered it to Microsoft AND Sony. Plus they run a similar service now on PC, who's paying for that?
Isn't it more likely that Sony didn't want it to undercut their streaming game service (which it does substantially) and because they are leading in the console race they simply aren't bothered?
EDIT:
Peter Moore was asked about it and said to look at Sony's Statement about it, which is:
"We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect,” adding, “We don’t think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer."
