I couldn't see a topic for this But:

EA Sports adopts Wii MotionPlus for new tennis franchise

EA Sports has confirmed it is working on a brand new tennis franchise at its EA Canada studio in Vancouver.

The first title will be released on the Wii in 2009 and will be the first EA Sports title to use the Wii MotionPlus accessory, unveiled recently by Nintendo.

"As we look to expand the EA Sports brand and captivate sports fans from around the world with rich new interactive experiences, it was obvious that the renaissance we're seeing in the sport of tennis provides us with a big opportunity," commented Peter Moore, president of EA Sports.

The company has also signed up the exclusive rights to the All England Lawn Tennis Club, home of the Wimbledon Championships.

Following a release on the Wii, the franchise will also make its way to other consoles.

Current tennis franchises include Sega's Virtua Tennis and 2K's Top Spin series.

Excellent News although i would much much prefer an arcade style cartoony tennis gagme ala wii sports than real graphics as for the wii i feel it would work 100x better but anyway great news

I am happy about the realistic graphics, i have had enough of these cutesy games.

Saying that if nintendo brough out mario tennis and mario golf with 1:1 controls my decision would be easy!

Could be great - a true tennis sim on the wii allowing you to adjust the strength of stroke, angle of racquet head and imparting of spin has been on my wish list since first playing wiisports.

Probably won't be all I'm hoping for though.

bowling surely wouldn't be enhanced as much as something like tennis i mean in Wii sports Nintendo did as much as they could with it but now you will be able to do proper drop shots spins everything i mean if this game is built groud up for Wii works perfect and maybe even includes Wii motion plus i mean it could be massive.

Will need a wireless Nunchuck.

Control the player like VT or TS using the analogue stick, and swing the mote to hit the ball.

Hope it takes which angle you slice the wiimote at into consideration.

Agreed - ever since recently finishing No More Heroes, at several points during which I caught the cable on chair arm and bits of me - could have led to strangulationoid ! - I've realised they really need to just bring out wireless and rechargeable controllers.

Wii disappointed me so much, too much kids/womens/ ******* gooseberry fool.

If EA can release some real 1:1 sports simulations, they're firmly cement themselves as my new SEGA!

The idea of applying motionplus to sports games gets me very excited, it's what the Wii should have done in the first place really.

I do worry that with realism comes difficulty though.

Why ? You don't have to play against Nadal in the first round - you could ply against someone far easier- that kid in the playgound, Tim Henman, Andrew Murray etc....

But there also comes the potential for actually developing your skill level as opposed to tennis in Wiisports that just demanded you improve your reaction time.

He's so bad they won't even let him on the playground.
