Easter break. Halp.

Guys. I know there was another thread. But I need some advice.

Want to go away over Easter with the gf. We've settled on staying in this country...any suggestions? London was an option but she loves close to there so she has been a few times..

I've been recommended York?

Any other recommendations? Got a budget of around £400 for the two of us.

Whenever I think about this, I assume the gf wants something loud and partylike and fun and free etc, but actually that's me being a bit of a kid. I'm always surprised when she wants to just go somewhere quiet and familiar out of the way but with access to towns and maybe transport links to a city, but something novel like the architecture or countryside, like France for example. Somewhere to just chill out.

So.. in the UK, maybe Cornwall or somewhere? It'll start getting a bit more warm and the massive sand beach around St Ives is really nice. You can go surfing. I went on a lads holiday there once and it was nice. Not too long, about a week. You can pre-book a campsite or find a B&B/hotel and just go to local bars/pubs, nothing too dramatic.

I think cities become a bit too much like every other city after a couple of nights. If she goes to London regularly nothing else is going to compare unless it's somewhere like Manc, but I haven't been past midlands..

Maybe you could train it to Portsmouth and Brighton and stick to the coast? Brighton is a lot like an "alternative" London, but much more manageable with crap loads of shops and a loud street culture.

Thanks mate, I was thinking more North though, she lives on the coast so she sees a lot of the beach. It's new to me as I love it but it's everyday occurrences for her..

Was thinking of Edinburgh but it's a trek and half to get there.

York is nice yeah but I'd go with the Lake District, truly beautiful.

I changed my mind. There's a different history and culture up north so it will feel more like someplace different. I'd go with a historic town like York as well.

Yeah York is ok. You'd pretty much see the lot in a day, though.

if you want somewhere quiet, Bealieu in Hampshire is nice.

Or Devin/Cornwall

All are along the south coast though!
