The Halo series is a prime example of a game way, way, way overrated and certainly not an Edge 10.

Just checked for you, seems you are indeed missing a few issues.

Issue 105 Halo Combat Evolved got [10].
Issue 181 Halo 3 got [10], it also won the innovation award for that year.

Glad to help

My post was fact-based. :( Venom's contribution was so horribly ill-informed and rubbish that it really, really pissed me off. I was standing up for my journo friends. But regardless of the ire the original post caused me, I'm sorry for swearing at you, Venom. I should have grown a bigger vocabulary to explain exactly why the post was so wrong.

But then he dealt me a far bigger blow by casually claiming that I was in my 40s. The bastard. He wins the confrontation for that line alone.

Consolegaming, can you please give your keyboard away to charity or something? :fp:

Firstly I'm sorry If I said you are in your 40s when your not. I based that on some video of somebody sticking their thumbs in the air and saying something like "Here's Bernie!" But I'm guessing that must have been Bernie.

Eighthours, when you say you were standing up for your journo friends are you saying that the reviewer of the FFXIII review is your friend? Because loyalty to your mates is a great quality. But why continue with your last post with your rudeness towards me? Why not let it go?! I mean I'm big enough to see that unless we are talking numbers, neither your post or my post are 'fact-based.' They are just opinion.

GRcade forums are a fun accompaniment to our shared passion of videogames. I've had friends stabbed, and shot at. Depending on where you grew up, London can be an unavoidably menacing place. I've been to the funeral of one of my best mates. Real people are what is important to me. So when it comes to the GRcade forums I can't think of something that somebody could say that would make me so angry, and rude as you got about a post which was not referencing you or anyone apart from some nameless reviewer. In fact Im dumbfounded by that irrational anger when there is real gooseberry fool going on.

In fact I remember on the old Gamesradar forums, somebody, wrote a similar angry and rude post about me because I wasn't spelling correctly and hadn't abbreviated correctly! From out of nowhere they started being rude, I cant remember the exact words but they called me 'an affront to the English language!' Disagreeing is fine, but I never sought to have a real argument with anyone so its strange that this person came out of the woodwork to go on a rant at me.

The point I'm trying to make is there are so much more important things to worry about. Take me for instance. Just because of a forum post I wrote I have suffered a torrent of abuse from a pompous lower middle-class pedant who delights in boasting of his superiority because of his 'journo' contacts within the video game industry in order to hide the inner self-doubt he has always felt because his obnoxious manner has unavoidably created barriers between himself and the rest of mankind. -But I'm not gonna let that bother me! :D

Peace bruv. ;)

Post of the year, well said.

There's controversy? I thought most of us were of the opinion that it's utter shite?

Read some of this earlier. The Red Steel 2 piece is immediate garbage simply for referring the style as 'owing to Tarantino'. :|

What it actually says is that it 'owes more to Tatantino than the Japanese cinema that informed the orignal'

Not exactly sure why you'd single that out as something that would cause the whole preview to be garbage...

Most? It seems like the reviews were harsh on it, but the majority of people who played it seem to be enjoying/loving it.

Lack of professionalism. And I'm utilising a little thing known as hyperbole.

Thing is, referring to Grindhouse styling as owing to Tarantino shows a lack of research, where in order to be correct it would be prefereable to name drop Roger Corman or Russ Meyer. It's laziness on the writer's behalf.

Might it be more down to the fusion of Japanese swords and a western setting?

The problem is, most people haven't heard about those two people. Pretty much everyone has heard of Tarantino.

But you'd expect, from EDGE of all strawberry floating places, they'd make a point of getting it right. strawberry floats sake, in one of the recent issues they had the entire opening of the 'Something About Japan' segment dedicated to Raizo Ichikawa. It's a lot harder to find his stuff than it is Corman or Meyer.

We need to get to the bottom of this. Who would do such a thing?

:shifty:
