I'm really struggling to understand Deaths Heads position in this thread. On a very basic level the physics model in the likes of a Gran Turismo or Forza is built to attempt to simulate real world physics so in theory at least you can attempt to apply real world driving knowledge to controlling those games. The analouge stick is obviously unrealistic but if you hook either of the games mentioned up to a decent racing wheel and pedal setup they obviously offer a more realistic experience than something like PGR4. People who are truly serious about their sim racing will naturally gravitate towards the PC and some of the setups you see are remarkable ( d-box rseats, direct drive wheels, button boxes, hydraulic pedals, multi monitors etc) but that doesn't mean Forza and GT aren't sims.

Why so much misinformation. Online does't work to it's fullest potential, right. Bad. The actual game works just fine and is a blast to play.

What did Battlefield 4 get? That didn't work properly for a full year.

He should have said this.

Forza Horizon 2 which is an absolutely stunning game gets a 7 and Driveclub which isn't gets a 7...

Right...

Oh I don't care how he says anything, as long as he is factually correct. As far as I am aware gamers can insert the disc and play. That's not broken i.e. it does work and, really, the experience is like no other. It's a racing game on steroids (sensations).

That's an interesting way to spin it lol

Well, it doesn't does it? I mean there's stuff in Driveclub that doesn't work when we are connected that will work when they fixed server issues, right?

I mean I have raced against ghosts and I've accumulated points towards my club and the club has cars unlocked and Leaderboards have worked (not sure they are now, though).

If they fix the online issues then maybe the game is worth a [7]. However I suspect when that happens everyone would have abandoned it and it will be too late.

I think the 'core' gameplay is worth at least the reward.

I wouldn't agree with that at all.

There's nothing particularly special about the game apart from the way it looks.

That's not to say I don't like the game, when its working properly I'm sure I'll thoroughly enjoy playing it, but I don't think its going to come near the experience I've had play Horizon 2, which I'd liken to playing PGR in an open world.

For me Forza Horizon 2 is a 9 all the way, its close to being a 10.

Not sure what exactly I'd give Drive Club, but assuming it worked at the moment it'd be an 8 at most.

I'm of the opinion that if DC players played FH2 they'd be bowled over. Not least cos it works and even then, it's just a better game.

Other than H, who has both games? Only person I can think off is Buff. Maybe he can say whether he is bowled over.

Yes?

Edge 7. Seems your opinion is based on not even 1 minute of playing DC and wishful thinking. I'd you read through the D.C. thread, people complain the game is not working but very few complaints about the core game that is working.

Yes?

I had a feeling that this was going to rear its head sooner or later.
They're completely different games, if truth be told. A [7] for both is harsh, and that's even after reading the review text.

You know except for them both being mainly about racing cars. And come to think of it both having a focus on clubs and integration with Friends playing the game even when you aren't playing MP.

Obviously they are different, but 'completely different'? I don't think so.

I knew what you meant but I don't agree, even within racing games they aren't 'completely different'.

They are different sure, but Drive Club is a serious arcade racing game where as Horizon 2 is a lighter sim racing game, they are next to each other in these terms rather than at opposite ends of the racing genre spectrum.

Forza, for me, looks the better game.

Though I don't think it warrants 4 pages of petty bickering.

On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is Mario Kart, and 10 is Serious Accurate Sim Racer 11, where would you put each one?

Genuine question, btw. I'd probably put DR at about a 6, and from what you're saying FH2 is about a 7, is that fair?

The great thing about FH2 is that - with regards to the 'scale' - you can slide along it to suit your preferences. Turning off assists etc I reckon would stick it quite high, but if you don't want it to be particularly sim-like, you don't have to.

I'm playing with Simulation steering and Damage, but with ABS and TC turned on at the moment.

In terms of the handling model, I'd guess FH2 is more like an 8...but then you can drive completely off-road where its obviously no longer a serious sim at all. The game asks and allows you to do stuff that clearly isn't a serious simulation at all, its just fun.

Drive Club clearly has a less sophisticated handling model, but then its pretty strict when it comes to the rules (nothing wrong with that).

That's why I'd put them closer together than they might otherwise be (along with the obvious similarities in objective when it comes to asynchronous multiplayer). If Driveclub is a 6 on your scale then FH2 is probably a 7.5.
