More people have played it than any other game. I never got the appeal but it's the biggest game of the decade for sure.

Biggest doesnt mean best tho. Girls Aloud are one of the biggest selling bands of the decade but youre hardly going to put them on top of your 'best bands of the decade' list, are you?

It wasn't named best game of the decade. It was named Game of the decade. In terms of importance it is the biggest game of the decade and has had more play time than any other game this decade I would imagine. I'm not saying it's the best but I can understand why they have awarded it.

Surely the likes of Modern Warfare or Wii Sports should be there ahead of Resi 4 then?

Apparently...

You can't have played many handheld games this year then.

I'll give the issue a look, but it could be the last issue I buy before switching to GamesTM - the quality of Edge and its reviews is dropping at a cataclysmic rate every month and I think I've given it enough chances now.

Someone draw a graph with "percieved quality of reviews" on the Y axis, and "scores I agree with" on the X axis.

It's got nothing to do with that, even the reviews that give good scores are often poorly written and don't reflect the score that ends the piece. The magazine is dwindling in quality, the columns at the end are all poor and don't come close to the likes of Biffo/Red Eye, the Making Of/Time Extend features are all gooseberry fool these days (even the good games have atrociously-written pieces).

I've played plenty, none of which have come close to the fun of LBP. There have been some very special handheld games, but too few and far between these days and only one or two have the quality of LBP, but not the same amount of fun to be gained from them.

Seems like a good issue aside from the rubbish games reviewed.

The Zelda piece  8-) Anouma  Glad to see Edge address the undue lashings of criticism TP has had since release, though the fact Anouma is aware of the few problems it had and some experiences I've had with Spirit Tracks make me very excited for the next Wii Zelda

Decade awards seem mostly spot on, the only one I can really disagree with is the whole Game of the decade category. I can't understand how you can recognise WoW as the GotD and then not include Wii Sports, I don't think I'd have any of the other in the list in my top 20 either, very disappointing.

Well done to EDGE for recognising the one true GOTD 8-) been playing it since nearish release and it's provided constant fun, an involving, evolving world, jaw dropping artistic design, an evocative musical score, and some real emotional drama that no other game can touch.

Five years strong and I'm still looking forward to playing it into the next decade, for the horde!

Think I'll be leaving this month's EDGE, any idea what next month's cover/feature is?

To be honest they could have done a lot more to celebrate and analyse the last decade.

They could have devoted an entire issue to the subject. A handful of pages just doesn't do justice to the highs and lows of the decade.

Something to do with Dance Dance Revolution I'm guessing.

It's two DDR arrows. The first pointing up, the second pointing down?

The rise and fall of the music games genre?
