I know we have 2 football threads, but considering it's the first time the sides have met in 14 years; I think we could enjoy the occasion together. I was 11 the last time!

I don't hold much hope for scotland to win, but you never know, stranger things have happened. It'll just be good to see the sides square up after such a long wait :D

Scotland wins they're British, they lose they're Scottish.

Not enough Jacobites or Redcoats.

The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them in parliament.

The Scottish squad isn't exactly inspiring, but England aren't really spoiled for choice anymore in terms of world class footballers.

Plus, we won last time. ;)

I remember watching that game. Good times.

I've missed the fixture actually. It always brought out the best and worst in our nations and it's bizarre to think it's been 14 years since the last one.

It's rare we get a chance to go up against each other in anything other than European club matches (Or Rugby) so I'm looking forward to it. Should be home from work in time for kick-off as well. Does the BBC have this or am I gonna have to go to the pub?

They really should bring back the home nations tournament. I know there was trouble in the past but there has been a generational change now and the bad old days are virtually extinct. Plus with clever marketing it could be like a football celebration like the Olympics was.

Makes me feel old. I watched the last game at Uni - I also bought Phil Jupitus a drink that night. Carling was £1 a pint and the bastard asked for a £2.50 Grolsch. True story. Can't believe it was 14 years ago.

I'm English but support a Scottish team; therefore not really fussed about which way this one goes. A 3-2 thriller would do nicely.

hopefully it's a good game and full of action, pity that it is a friendly though as some club teams might demand certain players don't play too much.

I don't really care about this match to be honest. I'm not into the whole 4 nations rivalry thing as I've always considered myself British and both teams are just shite at the moment. I will probably watch it but as I'm not really bothered.

Nothing like a pointless friendly to get the enthusiasm going days before the start of the season. Both teams are poor, will probably be dull as anything.

captain red dog wrote:They really should bring back the home nations tournament.

It would be shown on ITV though - an immediate and compelling reason not to hold it. Or, by the time the tournament comes around, Sky will have got the rights for all England games. Any matches featuring Scotland/Wales/NI will be on terrestrial, but any game with England would be exclusively on Sky.
