I can totally agree with Voyager over DS9 to be honest. Whilst DS9 has that great overarching plot through the latter half of the show there's something about Voyager that gives it a rewatachable charm similar to TNG.

Also yeah, the Chalotay & Seven romance is generally looked on by the fandom at large in much the same way, just a "what the hell? Where did that come from?" Kind of attitude. The only remote hint towards it was Seven practicing romance with the Chakotay hologram, but even that was totally one sided. Honestly it would have made way more sense to have her with Kim more than anyone else, at least there they have a working relationship to go from having worked closely together multiple times and Kim has historically shown some romantic interest in her. Even if it was only surface level it's still more than Chalotay has ever shown.
They could even have worked that into how future Janeway convinces future Harry to help her, a jaded Captain Kim being won over by the prospect of his wife being brought back.

For me I put Voyager right up there with TNG as the best of Trek right to this day. I wouldn't put TOS at the same level, but I would put both VOY and TNG securely above DS9.

You're both crazy. Voyager isn't a patch on DS9.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I quite enjoyed Enterprise. More so when it remembered it was supposed to be a prequel and started doing things to link up to TOS towards the end.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

I have a lot of nostalgia for Voyager.

But I find it a bit difficult to go back to. It's full of very unlikeable characters -- Paris, Kim, and Neelix in particular are just kind of irredeemable.

I much prefer the crew in TOS, TNG, and DS9. And SNW and LD too, for that matter. (I've forgotten all of ENT so I can't remember how I felt about them...)

The Chakotay x Seven relationship is bullshit and definitely one of the worst aspects of the show - like most things that involve Chakotay...

I really wish they would have another crack at voyagers main plot with modern overarching storyline and focus more on the stranded, alone, dwindling resources, lost crew and understaffed element. Make it a solid well structured 10 episode season with no filler.

I know this is how BSG started (same writers) but Star Trek has such rich lore and technology.

Year of hell but for the whole show not just 2 episodes.

Edit: equinox was another episode that built on what voyager could have been. I mean they had a crew of 150 officers and lost dozens through the series but labour shortage or shift patterns were never an issue? The main crew could seemingly spend forever in the holodeck in personal programs, amend you would assume voyager only has 1 holodeck and its power consumption was huge. How pissed off would you be as ensign nobody if every time you wanted to go there Tom Paris had it booked out for crappy 50’s sci fi or mechanic garage. Or worse the captain is in some nonsense Irish village or da Vinci workshop. I’m sure in the early series they had “communal” holodeck locations I vaguely recall a bar and pool table set reused a few times!

Chokotay is probably in my top half of Voyager main characters but I do not mean that as a compliment to Chakotay.

And yeah, I agree that was one of the worst bits of the show. :dread:

She should have got with the doctor, makes sense narratively.

The doctor should have got together with Rimmer from Red Dwarf. They could have then happily bickered with each other while really putting that hard light to good use ifyouknowwhatImean....
