The S1/S2 cut off of voyager is odd

The 37s was going to be a two parter across the two. Then it wasn’t. Then they changed the script till the last second (who is why there’s no cgi of the cities)

It was produced/film in season 1, and in some countries was shown as part of it and in the UK it was on the season 1 VHS release

Initiations - A decent enough attempt to flesh out the Kazon. Only problem is that they're basically gooseberry fool Klingons and aren't anywhere near as interesting.
Always nice to see Aaron Eisenberg, even if he is basically just playing it as an angrier Nog.

Projections - Doctor episodes are always great and this is no different. It's fun to see him out of Sickbay at this point, where it's still kind of a novelty.
The bits with him crawling around in the mess hall are great. And Barclay is always a treat.

Some real Total Recall vibes as well.

Since you've watched everything now, have you tried any of the games? They can be quite hit or miss, but there's a few classics that are worth checking out.

I don't think I've ever played a Trek game. If one ever comes to Game Pass then I'd check it out.

It's unlikely Elite Force will ever come to Game Pass because it's an old PC game. It can usually be picked up on GOG for a song though. I highly recommend it.

Yeah I'd recommend Elite Force as well, really great experience still and does an excellent job of capturing the aesthetic of the show!

Pretty sure it's the only Trek game I've played actually.

I'm sure it's great but it's unlikely I'll buy a PC just to play it. ;)

I hope Star Trek Resurgence makes its way to something like Game Pass eventually.

Yeah most Star Trek games, the decent ones at least, tend to be on PC rather than console and they're usually from the 90's/2000's.
Though more recent games have been alright.

Bridge Crew was a great co-op experience, especially in VR, just a bit short.
Resurgence, which came out a few months ago is a decent Telltale style game and is again, pretty good.
Plus Star Trek Infinite comes out in a few weeks and it's basically Paradox making Stellaris: Trek edition so that's day one.

Elite Force is fantastic fun. Not particularly "Trek" but it's good fun. The 2nd is a bit longer and more involved but worth a look as well.
Did both on stream a couple of years ago.

But for me the peak Trek game is still probably TNG: A Final Unity. Replayed it through DosBox a year or so back and it still holds up.
Would run on a potato at this point too.
I've tried to get into the older Interplay TOS adventure games, but something about them just doesn't click with me. Need to give them another shot.

I never got around to the second Elite Force back in the day but did hear good things about it, will probably try and pick them both up at some point and give them another spin for some retro vibes!

There's an interesting Twitter account that I started following a while back where this guy is attempting to play and tweet their thoughts on every Trek game released (not sure if anyone has mentioned it on here before, may be where I first heard about it). Some quite interesting looking stuff in there, but the main thing that caught my eye was this unreleased DS9 based point and click game "The Hunt" which sounds like it might have been quite cool!

I have fond memories of this. Basically commandos. Real time strategy with a bunch of officers who each had unique skills.

That cancelled DS9 game looks interesting.

Randomly had this come up on my Youtube.

Do you know what - I randomly saw that recently as well!

Surprisingly decent, especially considering they all clearly had about 5 minutes to learn their lines!

Elogium

They meet a new alien species in space displaying interesting behavioural patterns, Chakotay's first thought? "probably wants to strawberry float us"

It was another moment that made me think of Red Dwarf again though:

Image

Overall, bit of a non-event episode but nothing majorly offensive.

Non Sequitur

Agree with Moggy: Kim should have stayed in this reality!

This is another one that had the right ingredients to be something really interesting but doesn't quite put it all together into something truly compelling. At first I thought they were making a big deal out of the new ship design part of the plot and that this was going to be some simulation/illusion being created by an alien race to steal new technology by tricking Kim into talking about it, but the reality wasn't even as interesting as that!

Also, why is it always San Francisco they seem to go back to? Feels like this was re-using some of the same streets sets that we have seen a few times across DS9 and TNG?

That's where Starfleet HQ and Starfleet Academy are.

Plus as you say, they've got lots of sets to use and re-use.

True, just all starts to feel a bit contrived/convenient I guess!

Twisted

I assume 20 million gigaquads is a lot of data.

Another meh one. I thought Voyager started strong and has had some great episodes, but it seems to be in a bit of a rut, which is a worrying sign as we're not far in. How many sentient energy beings/clouds are there in space?

The show doesn't seem to be doing much with its premise either. Almost everything so far could have been in TOS or TNG, the only difference is no chance of Starfleet back up when gooseberry fool get really real.

Parturition

It's disturbing that they keep referring to Kes as being 2 years old. She might be fully grown, but still. :dread:

Why don't the shuttles have seat belts? And how the hell do they manage to survive these crashes? The ship is utterly strawberry floated, but they don't even break a bone.

Another subpar episode. Not bad by any means, but rather uninteresting. I don't really care if Paris and Neelix like each other.

Persistence of Vision

Erghh the Jane Austin holodeck thing was probably fun for the actors to do, but it's dreadful to watch.

Overall the episode was ok. It was a welcome twist on the over familiar holodeck goes wrong type episodes. Nothing spectacular, but I hope the telepathic aliens - I forget their name! show up again.

The very definition of a 5/10.

Tattoo

I'm hoping this is about how Jack from Lost got his body art. ;)

Oooo a mention of "Captain Sulu"

Ancient Aliens: Tribal Tattoo edition.

Image

;)

That wasn't actually too far off my Jack from Lost prediction. I'm not sure TV shows ever need to tell us why a character has a tattoo and they certainly don't need to spend an entire episode on it.

The doctor side plot was fantastic. They need to strawberry float with him every episode.

Yeah the Doctor is amazing, no wonder he's the only one to get a cameo in a movie!
