Take a look into m&s they do an own range that is really really good. There is a big bottle red ale that is awesome and not overly high %.

Plus they have a few siren beers and they are epic, well worth a try

Hi Errkal - was busy writing a reply when the internet made it vanish off into hyperspace...... Anyway the jist of it was that my absolute favourite M+S beer is the Yorkshire Bitter, which seems to be the one that is most often sold out. Other favourites include the Wold Top ones and the Southwolds ones. On the whole though I do think the range is over-priced and I suspect a lot of the ales are not ones which the respective breweries would b prrepared to issue under their own names..... To be fair though, the range is changing all the time and I haven't had an awful lot of them - plenty to explore yet!!

I think the Red Ale you refer to is the Greenwich Brewery one?? Not too keen tbh - had a few by the same brewery and not smitten. My favourite breweries are probably all 'up here'!! - Black Sheep, Timothy Taylors (Landlord obviously but only on draught not bottled), Wold Top (all good), Ossett Brewey (Yorkshire Blonde is lovely) and I've recently discovered Theakston's Lightfoot, again from Morrisons, is a lovely drop.

Like I say, lots more exploring to do!!

Yeah Greenwich was the one, many of the brewers the make them are doing it as a contact brew as it gets them good money but usually they are a variant on an existing beer.

For example, the tesco finest double American IPA is actually brewed by BrewDog under contract and is identical to BrewDog Hardcore IPA. They used it as a way to get out there. The issue is see is that places like tesco, m and s etc. Want big batches so you end up with a lot of the own brand stuff being made by Marston's, or Shepard's neame (sainsburys use them a lot) and they then suck because they are mass made on the cheap and just lack any real punch to them.

M&s is slightly better as they do at least use decent brewery's or at least have for what I have seen. Alrhoguh the Greenwich one will go down hill now as meantime is now owned by fosters.

Camden Town Brewery sold to world's biggest drinks company

Now Camden Town Brewery will be on many purists "gooseberry fool list".

I've disliked them for a while, their beers are boring as hell and generally a bit gooseberry fool.

Had Hells at one point, was average at best. Been meaning to try IHL and some of their more niche range.

Apparently Brewdog bars are gonna stop stocking Camden Town because of the takeover.

Brewdog whore themselves enough. A new bar opening every other day it seems. Probably one in Abu Dhabi. Bottles in Tesco etc.

They do and they dont, there are 2 sides to BrewDog, there is the mega money side where they sell strawberry float loads of Punk IPA, Jackhammer, etc. in their bars, and have bars all over the place, and there is still a core awesome craft beer side that is about pushing boundaries and making awesome stuff, this side is the side I like as I love epic beer.

The issue is, small batch mega beers can't go mass market like Punk, 5am, Dead Pony etc. as you can't make them in huge volume and they cost loads to make, it is why there are some mega BrewDog fans (myself included) I don't care a huge amount about the bars, they are nice to visit and stuff but I wont go there above all else, unless it is legitimately the best bar in the area. It is harder to get the other beers like the Abstrakt range, Black Eyed King Imp, the DOG A, B, C etc. ranges and the barrel aged stuff like the paradox range unless you buy online which is what I do, you then end up with a different view of them as you don't buy the "normal" stuff that is everywhere because really that isn't for the hardcore craft beer person, Punk and stuff is there to make money to fund their mega stuff.

Don't get me wrong Punk is good, but it is far far from the best IPA in the world.

My point is, BrewDog is so much more than Punk, 5am, Dead Pony Club and Jackhammer, but unless you really look and buy direct from them or hit the fridges in their bars, you wont see the other side.

Can't remember the names of them all, I had a Gamma Ray with dinner earlier and that was very nice. Love the art on the cans, I'm gonna keep them when they're empty and put them on a shelf.

I do that. My gf hates it as I have about 100. Did you have the Rye 8 ball one? (think that's the name). Really tasty beers from that brewery.

I do miss the London beers. Italian ones are very good but not as good as back home.

If you haven't already get some beers from brewfist they are Italian and do some amazing stuff. Space frontier is my favorite of theirs it is an American IPA but uses grape must to make it super fruity.

I have a limit run grappa barrel aged immortal stout of theirs in the cupboard, not sure when to have it is according to the bottle it is 1 of 1000 bottles.

Yeah Brewfist is a good one. So many breweries here too try though.

There is a bar in London that is solely for Italian craft beer. Can't remember where though. I think to the west.
