Essex is crap. I've lived right on the border with the shitehole for several years now. I can honestly say it's the worst place I've ever had to live in. The people are scumbags - never two seconds away from illiteracy and/or physical violence and they represent some of the very worst aspects of what it apparently means to be 'English'. The BNP also enjoy favour around here.

I want to go home to the Southwest. I so want to go home... :cry:

And yet to be fair Cal that paragraph could apply to plymouth just as easily... Sure we have coastlines, seagulls and unhealthy obbsesions with francis drake, but the scum thrive just as well here as they might in grimy old escort owning Essex.

My Uncle lives there! I used to go there quite a bit as a kid. I quite like Clacton.

I'm directly at the south of Essex by the Dartford Bridge, I've never had any problems living here and I actually enjoy living here. I have to agree with the bit of the song where we're some of the nicest people to meet. I've never met a random person on the street other than members of the chavy culture who are not really polite or nice to meet. It's strange.

I've never been to Essex but I do have a rather irrational hatred of the place thanks to one man. On holiday I was chatting to this Canadian girl and it seemed to be going really well until up saunters the most atypical Essex bloke you've ever met. Spiked up hair, pink polo shirt, fake gold chain etc. When I talked to her about Canada I talked about her area (Vancouver) with knowledge and she seemed delighted; as opposed to his knowledge of Canada - "Canada, it's just above America, innit?"

Ok, he was better looking than me and no doubt possessed completely unfounded self confidence that I did not, but it just doesn't seem right. She'd been dancing and chatting with me all night on her accord having come over to me until this Essex bloke arrived...
