I don't think anyone's said we'll win the thing... have they? Most the discussion's been on the group stages.

:shifty:

I would've hoped that you wouldn't be that naive.

Almost 20 years since the last time. I'm pretty sure nothing would happen. The England fans have been very obedient during the last few competitions.

I'd like to see England and Ireland in the same group and a possible group of death consisting of Spain, Germany, Portugal and France.

Well to an extent. I'd rather see England or Ireland do well in the competition than any of the other nations but between those two I don't really mind who wins.

True, but: it's been 'almost 20 years' because we've not played them since 1995. The last significant England trouble came at Euro 2000 - luckily we were gooseberry fool and were papped out at the group stage.

Since then:

2002 - Japorea - too far for the hoolies to travel
2004 - Portugal - very heavy measures to prevent trouble
2006 - Germany - as above
2008 - weren't there
2010 - nobody was about to kick off in South Africa and end up being rutted/rotting away in a prison down there

Let's give the authorities some credit - they have clamped down so much on known hooligans since 2000 that it's been very hard for them to kick off - but if England and Ireland are drawn together, it's a known political flashpoint and it could be interesting.

Edit: also, dare I say it, but it might not just be England scummers that are drawn to the fixture. Cough *Rangers* cough.

It's been 16years since we played you in a friendly and you thrashed Landsdown road :x

But, the FA have really culled the idiots from travelling since.

I heard that more tickets were going on sale after the draw but can't seem to find out any more info on it. Anyone know what the deal is?
