Most, TBH. Like PS said above, he is a professional miserablist. He's been phoning it in for the past few tournaments he's been at. Euro 2012 was a particular nadir - I don't know if his dog had just died or something but he just sounded sick of life and bored of football. His 2012 was like Motson's 2002 World Cup - very, very clear he just wasn't up to it any more.
He talks about football as if he hasn't watched a football game for the past 15 years, simply because he can't be bothered. He's one of those (and there are many) who still thinks 4-4-2 is the only formation. Ask him who should play up front for England and he'll tell you Hodgson needs to work out who's going to partner Rooney. He has a set of three or four default opinions that he falls back on time and again because it's easier than doing research or moving with the times.
I dunno, he's just a relic, something reflected by the fact he's not going to the tournament. The only surprising thing is that it's taken the BBC this long.
