Iceland Squad Announced

Iceland became the first team to announce their squad for the championships earlier today.

Goalkeepers: Hannes Halldórsson (Bodø/Glimt), Ögmundur Kristinsson (Hammarby), Ingvar Jónsson (Sandefjord).

Defenders: Ari Skúlason (OB), Hordur Magnússon (Cesena), Hjörtur Hermannsson (PSV Eindhoven), Ragnar Sigurdsson (Krasnodar), Kári Árnason (Malmö), Sverrir Ingi Ingason (Lokeren), Birkir Sævarsson (Hammarby), Haukur Heidar Hauksson (AIK).

Midfielders: Emil Hallfredsson (Udinese), Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea), Aron Gunnarsson (Cardiff), Theódór Elmar Bjarnason (AGF), Arnór Ingvi Traustason (Norrköping), Birkir Bjarnason (Basel), Johann Gudmundsson (Charlton), Eidur Gudjohnsen (Molde), Rúnar Már Sigurjónsson (Sundsvall).

Forwards: Kolbeinn Sigthórsson (Nantes), Alfred Finnbogason (Augsburg), Jón Dadi Bödvarsson (Kaiserslautern).

Eidur Gudjohnsen makes the squad at 37 years old and disappointingly prevents a clean sweep of players ending in "son."

BBC Reveals Pundits

Former England captain Rio Ferdinand and French World Cup winner Thierry Henry are among the TV pundits for the BBC's coverage of Euro 2016.

They will join BBC regulars Gary Lineker, Gabby Logan and Alan Shearer for 26 live matches.

Gianluca Vialli, Jens Lehmann, Robbie Savage and Neil Lennon are among the other former internationals who will appear on TV and Radio 5 live.

The BBC Sport website will have live text, featuring in-game highlights.

BBC Sportsday also announced that joining them would be Martin Keown, Kevin Kilbane, Chris Waddle, John Hartson, Robbie Savage, Danny Murphy, Jermaine Jenas and Danny Mills. Hopefully not all at once.

I must admit that I quite enjoy Lawro's miserableness.

I find Lawro hilarious to be honest.

Anyone else going over to France for this? We've got a 10 day trip planned in the South (Marseille, Lyon, Nice), with tickets to England v Russia, Iceland v Hungary, Iceland v Portugal and Belgium v Italy.

Can't agree on Lawro. He's stuck in the past and has long since given up offering any meaningful insight. Punditry has moved on and left him far, far behind.

Mad jelly re your trip, though, that sounds amazing.

Quietly confident re England this summer, mind. Now Roy seems largely set on a 4-3-3, and now we finally have a defensive midfielder to replace Hargreaves(!), we stand a chance at not being totally rolled over.

What is everyone's ideal squad then? That alleged fake leak yesterday has me paranoid.

I like Lawro, he's oddly funny. He's probably going to pundit over here for TV3.

Yeah, if only he was more like Michael Owen. :slol:

Very nice, I wanted to try and see a Wales game or game in Marseille as my parents live about 30 mins away, but the cost of flights/trains when I looked was crazy and i didn't even have a ticket lined up. :(

My favourite football Co commentator was Mick Mccarthy .He cracked me up and was so to the point the main commentators couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or just honest.

Well, yeah, there are still bad examples. All the reasons people hate Owen apply to Lawro as well.

That's a good trip you've got planned, Belgium v Italy should be a cracking game. We are doing 9 days in Bordeaux and then 4 days in Paris so are out for the whole of the group stage, but only have tickets to the Wales v Slovakia game. I know loads of other people who are going over for it, I think Bordeaux is going to be 90% Welsh on 11 June.

Yeah we basically applied for the first round of tickets before the draw had been made.

Between my mates & I we made 33 separate applications and were successful with...3 matches and planned the trip round that. The applications gave us 4 tickets at 3 games, which wasn't ideal as we have 6 going but fortunately, in subsequent resales we managed to get those games up to 6 tickets (although obviously 2 people will be sitting by somewhere else) and also add in a 4th game in St Etienne (Hungary v Portugal).

Haven't got a bad selection of games, but would have loved a Wales match. Also, we tried to get tickets for Spain v Turkey in Nice but were unsuccessful unfortunately. I think it may be a fairly small stadium.

Should be good though.

Totally serious. I do enjoy him and his quips as co-commentator. Remember Phil Neville at the World Cup? That was strawberry floating turgid.

Don't forget Danny Murphy and Robbie Savage.

Not sure why they hired Henry too as he is awful on Sky.

People pointing out other gooseberry fool commentators as if that means Lawrenson isn't also terrible. :fp:

One without Rooney and anyone who hasn't been playing regularly before now. Most of the squad picks itself tbf.
