Euro 2020: Italy win it; morons, encouraged by UK govt., racially abuse England's greatest team since '66.

It's not really possible to cut out all possible variations. It's too easy to get around swear filters. "strawberry float" "f uck " "f.uck" "f u c k" etc etc. It's just as easy to do with racial slurs. Or they can post a photo with the word in.

The actual words could be banned, but that would kill Black American Twitter.

Vile website, its a platform for hatespeech, and bullying. I don't see why it should be allowed to keep going. Nothing good comes from twitter.

Still knackered from last night, but also topped up with fiery anger at the racist gooseberry fool.

Social media for its many faults allows for a much more diverse discourse and connections than traditional media can possibly allow for, both in the sense of capability and active gatekeeping of what is considered worthy of national attention.

Without Twitter, does Tyrone Mings get to respond to a hypocritical, racist government? Without Twitter do racists suddenly realise racism is wrong? Does the right wing press stop with editorials and opinion pieces demonising certain minority groups and downplaying how prevalent and ingrained that bigotry is?

From inside Wembley from ticketless individuals:

At least they’re on camera to hopefully be arrested.

Absolute banana splits the lot of them. How can anyone ever think it's reasonable to act like that?

It's the side of the sport I hate the most, the dumb dumbs ruining it for everyone. If a countries fans act like this during a game, that country should be severely punished by FIFA/UEFA. Same goes for clubs when travelling around Europe.

Most information seems to suggest it was ticketless England fans trying to force their way into the stadium.

Brendan O’Neil, whoever he is(editor of Spiked?), on GMB this morning raising some indefensibly stupid points:

- Football is a working class sport and we should not try and take the passion out of it

strawberry float off mate, and how dare you equate violent scenes with an inherently working class fanbase. I’m long past sick of this narrative.

Accountability for one's actions doesn't apply to politicians apparently.
