Germany were in the bottom two in 2015, 2016 and 2017 but finished 4th last night for no apparent reason.

The rules are, there are no rules.

Apparently, the invader is an 'anti-media campaigner' who uses media to tell the world about it.

What a moron.

Mafro wrote:Israel winning  Shite act and a shite song with some questionable choices that people are just ignoring because it was banta, easily one of the worst I've seen since I properly started watching Eurovision.

Didn't think the show was as good as last years or the year before.

This, this and more this. It really didn't feel like a memorable year in terms of performance or the quality of the songs bar a few exceptions.

Imagine thinking pretending to be asian is okay in 2018. Let that sink in. Also, describing it as a "novelty" song when she's dressed in a kimono in front of a wall of lucky cats. Is Japanese culture novelty, then? This is why people are complaining :slol: "you're right israel asians are funny lol"

Also yeah it's very much worst-era Avril, and that was a horrible joke eight years ago.

She likes the culture and wants to dress that way, it isn't mocking it or the piss so yeah it is fine.

Weirdly you're not the first person who's made that argument when I've spoken about this. Is this the default "cultural appropriation is fine" response? I'm still not sure what it's trying to say.

Where do you draw the line with cultural appropriation? And why is it bad anyway?

I think different cultures mixing is an amazing thing. Fusions of fashion, music, slang and food are what moves us forward, a sterile “that’s for black people”, “that’s for Asian people”, “that’s for white people” would be awful. And basically segregation.

We would all agree that a white guy with dreads is naff. But I don’t see anything wrong with it (other than naffness).

Obviously if something is mocking another culture then it’s not on. Things like blacking up or “funny” accents are not appreciating the culture, they are just mockery.

Native Indians consider that offensive though. Japanese people don't find someone wearing a kimono offensive.
