I listened to a couple more of the new songs on YouTube, and they're doing nothing for me. It's all so turgid and dull, I really can't be arsed to make myself sit through more. The one redeeming feature throughout each song I've heard so far has been that Kirk had some great licks and solos in there. The rest has been pretty dross.

That new Metallica album is incredibly frustrating to listen to. You get brief moments where it actually sounds half-decent, followed by minutes of the same old shite we've had for the last 20+ years. It's better than St. Anger and Death Magnetic, but that's not really saying much.
