Neil Cicierega combines Hans Zimmer's Time theme from the Inception soundtrack with the lyrics from Y.M.C.A. and it suddenly sounds like a call to arms from the Village People.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

Not particularly impressed by this new one, which is a shame, because I've loved SikTh for a long time, and thought a lot of their last EP. The lyrics seem particularly uninspired, here, though, and there's very little going on instrumentally that isn't just de rigueur for them. I hope the rest of the next album is a big step up from this.

I've only recently got into them. Dan Weller produced the last two Shikari albums, which I love, so naturally checked out his other stuff.

Anyway, on a deftones binge atm - new album is great. They've always been good at creating that 'big' sound.

Aside from the funky bass (courtesy of Thundercat) It sounds very 90's rap/hiphop ish, which is probably why I like it - I was quite into the genre back then as one of my cousins used to regularly make rap/hiphop/Rn'B mix tapes for me but my musical tastes have changed quite a bit since then.

Bonus Thundercat song

Edit: its actually a different Kendrick Lamar track which features Thundercat.

Just listened to At The Drive In, apparently they are releasing a new album after 17 years. Apparently they will be playing at the Leeds / Reading festival.

Meh.
