Shite is harsh, but yeah, post Holy Bible is easily the weaker portion of their discography. I don't know that I'd say he was the soul of the band by himself, but his disappearance definitely had a profound effect on them all. It's as though they were suddenly forced to mature a bit, and realise for the first time that they weren't indestructible young guys any more.

From what I've read elsewhere, it seems like if Richie had stuck around, the band would likely have parted ways anyway. He wanted a more aggressive sound, such James and Sean apparently weren't keen on. Who knows what could have been.

Just my personal opinion - rather strongly expressed I agree. I've had a lot of the post-Richie albums but always got rid of them. I still listen to the Holy Bible on a regular basis.

I really dig Everything Must Go. Catchy songs, generally good song writing (I'm not fond of that The Girl who wanted to be God though).

...until a few moments ago I wasn't aware of Bob Seger. I'm learning that he has made some cracking tracks.

I first heard this track on Guitar Hero Metallica. Loved it ever since.

Also +1 for Hollywood Nights suggestion.

I'm listening to Linkin Park. RIP Chester :(

Yeah, I posted this not so long ago, but... it just feels right to play it now.

Edit: I am no musician at all... but that guitar playing from 06:00 to 10:00 must be some of the best ever!
