So my best mate asked me to be the best man at his wedding yesterday. Massive honour, and I'm determined to make sure I do everything that's required and asked of me.

However, it's the first time I've been a best man, and although I have an idea of what's needed, etc, I want stories, tips, tricks, advice about your experiences.

Any tales of woe that I'd do well to avoid repeating? Any handy tips for making sure it all goes smoothly? Speech-writing advice would be greatly appreciated as well!

The wedding's not until the Autumn, but I figure I may as well start planning soon and getting things straight in my mind.

Oh, and any stag-do suggestions would be welcome. Nothing too wild though, he's not that sort of guy!

I was my Dad's best man in his second wedding, so I kept up the grand tradition of strawberry floating the Maid of Honour.

My Aunty Sue has spoken to me since.

We're basically the Elite Four, except with better Pokemon.

For the stag do, make sure to kidnap him from his house really early in the morning (wearing balaclavas and bomber jackets), handcuff him, put a bag on his head then strip him naked and drop him off in town
