Apparently Sam Raimi made an appearance at comic-con and announced he's working on an Evil Dead tv series with his brother and Bruce Campbell.

No details on if it's based on the recent reboot, the original series or will be something new entirely just based on the movies ideas.. Hope Bruce Campbell has some sort of acting role though.

Just hope tv lets them keep the gore the series is known for.

Anyone else excited for this? What'd you like to see from it assuming it comes to fruition?

 All over this. A 'fun' show with Hannibal levels of gore would be ideal.

Has to star Bruce Campbell, though. Obviously.

Yeah. Its be awesome of it was on the Starz network in the US. They did the Spartacus series so clearly don't mind any gore and as Raimi was involved in that, hopefully it could happen.

I hope Ash does figure in it in a big way, if they use all four films for ideas it could be a fun gory series with lots of possibilities for different settings/story arcs. Guess they might try and tie the remake to the originals which could be a good way to introduce a bigger tv show size cast..

Guess they could make it a show where someone has unleashed the evil after finding the book and the world's close to ending and Ash with some other survivors are fighting back. Nice mix of gore, horror, comedy and time travel to keep it varied and should be a winner.

As a big fan of the original trilogy (not seen the new one yet) I'm quite interested in seeing how this pans out. As others have said if they stick to the formula of the films and strike a fine balance between the horror, the gore and the comedy they could have a winner on their hands. Oh, Bruce Campbell and boomsticks are a must :D

The remake is well worth a watch if you're a fan of the originals. It's different enough to feel fresh but has some great winks/nods to the old ones and keeps faithful to the story. It's more of a full on horror/gorefest with less obvious comedy though it does have it's moments. I guess it's what the original Evil Dead tried to be but couldn't quite achieve due to the tiny budget it was made on. I liked it a lot though. Would've preferred a proper Evil Dead 4 but it was better than nothing and a lot better than I was expecting.

if Bruce Campbell is in it then i can only guess it will be a this is what has happened since the 3rd film kind of thing and what is currently going on with Ash. Bruce Campbell is awesome though and he was brilliant in Burn Notice as Sam Axe.

Would be cool if they do tie it with the original trilogy - if they continued from the apocalypse ending from Army Of Darkness where he wakes up in the future and everythings destroyed. Ash leading a band of survivors trying to stop the deadites from wiping out the remains of humanity could be excellent. The "I slept too long" bit could also be used to explain him againg since Army Of Darkness, could say the potion slowed down his aging whils the slept but didn't stop it entirely.

Wasn't 2, basically one, but with more or a comedy tone to it? As it's the same setting and I think characters etc?

kind of i guess as it's the same kind of setting but it was a sequel. Here's the good explanation

It's a sequel, DESPITE the first 7 minutes of the film distorting the continuity between the two movies; this has merely been provided as a re-cap. It is said that Sam Raimi had lost the rights to the first film and had to reshoot the beginning in order to provide said re-cap so new footage was shot. The second film really begins when Ash is propelled into the air by the deadite forces as seen in the first film.

I'd be all over this if they could somehow work Bruce Campbell into the show :datass:

As long as it has decent writing, actors and isn't too tacky then I'd be on board.

Well Bruce Campbell has confirmed on twitter that the plan is for him to star in it as Ash so that's something.. just have to see now if anything comes of it I guess. Fingers crossed it's not just Raimi trolling his fans again like when he said they were working on Army Of Darkness 2 a year or so ago before it all got denied again.

good stuff :) my hope is though that if they are being serious about this and Sam Raimi is going to go all out and get Bruce Campbell in then it should be amazing.

That's great if true. Love the idea of an older, grizzled Ash who still thinks he's awesome popping up every now and again.
