Yeah, there are different modes, but generally it is PvE and PvP, with the "player" being teams of five.

Well worth taking a look at a few of the vids posted as they explain the modes and that "walkthrough" one explains the move set.

I like the idea of the game but I'm cautious about it because - whilst I don't mind online and multiplayer games - I don't want other folk moaning about other players (or, more accurately, me  ) all the time. If it's a tough game, I'm gonna be lousy at it.

For the guys who played the beta, could you try out the different exo suits when you played? From watching those vids, it seems that different exo suits are needed to tackle different dinosaurs. Apparently you can change suits on the fly.

We didn't win a single game. It felt like they just put similar size parties against each other without any kind of skill based matchmaking.

Is that something they are likely to have fixed in the meantime?

I suppose it depends on how many people had the same problems we had.
It felt like no matter how co-ordinated we were the other team was always going much faster than us even if we had a monster random player who was carrying us like bonkers.
I struggled to find a support character I liked until near the end and like I said the sheer madness of it all was just overwhelming at times and it became hard for me to see what to do but again maybe that's just me.

I'll give it a try on gamepass but maybe I'm just getting old and games this hectic just aren't for me any more.

Thanks Pete.

Fade, OK but you do know how long ago it was you played it, and what state it was meant to be in. Was it a beta? Would you expect that to be fully balanced? Did you give them any feedback?

I read a summary of the plot for this a while ago which was hilarious, but I can't find it anymore. Anyway, initially thought it could be one of those so-bad-it's-good premises that makes no sense - one of those really videogame-y videogames - but "online, team-based action game" kills my interest completely.

I'm keen to give it a go just on the basis of the incredible spectacle of seeing stacks of dinosaurs tumbling from the wormholes. It looks to be pretty wild and it may be a bit too pacey for me, but I'm hoping that some practice will help.

Push Square have spent a few hours with the game and published their early impressions.

Push Square wrote:While we don’t expect this to be leading a Game of the Year charge like Capcom’s other tentpole titles, however, there’s the glimmer of something great

The problem, so far, is we’re not sure the game is going to have the staying power it needs to sustain a large playerbase for hundreds of hours. While the gameplay is crisp and rewarding, we can’t imagine playing this same mode over and over without any twists or turns. There is an alternate version of the final round where you don’t come into contact with your rivals, making it a straight race to the finish line, but this feels less fulfilling in our opinion. Apparently there are more stages and skirmishes to unlock as you progress further, so we’re eager to see where the meaningful variety is going to come from.

This is undoubtedly a good game, though: Capcom’s gameplay chops shine through, and each character feels distinctive and unique in the best possible way. We’re looking forward to unlocking more of the story, and we can’t wait to properly test out more of the Exosuits. We’re just worried, once the initial novelty has worn off, where the game’s staying power is going to come from. That’s a question we still need to answer, but our early impressions are undoubtedly positive, and we’re eager to play more.

I have spent 30 minutes waiting for a password reset email because every strawberry floating combination of a likely password I try will not log me into my capcom ID which capcom so desperately need in order for me to play.

This is gooseberry fool.

Did the training, then played two matches - won both. It’s fun so far, but I can’t see how it’s not going to get extremely samey. Especially as there’s currently only one game mode.

I've just started watching this "beginner's guide" and it could be pretty useful. It explains the screen layout and the stages. Plenty of neat tips including something that apparently a lot of players are missing; that you have to kill a specific number of particular types of dino in order to progress - this info pops up at around the 06:30 mark. If you carry on attacking other types of dino, you won't progress!

Had to make a new capcom ID to get in. I never got the reset password email.

Anyway there's some mindless ish fun to this. I like the support class who can fly, upgraded her so she reloads every time she flies (with no penalty) among other things, which is pretty lush.

Obviously as with all team things it's annoying if your team isn't working on the objective, but by and large thus far random have been okay. I've had a few moments where I used my ultimate and abilities really well and turned the tide of battle, or used a dinosaur to strawberry float the other team up and do the same thing and that is a lot of fun!

Apparently more modes open up as you progress, which might negate my concern.

Yeah I'm seeing new things as I play more, felt like I did the same thing for 4/5 games then I got a new thing for the next 5 or so.

Another couple of matches - one win. Really quite enjoying it, but everyone seems to want to play assault characters, so I switch to tank each time. I’d really like to mix it up a bit.

The pacing is weird. Or perhaps it's a purposeful on boarding. To begin with it felt like I did the same thing every time, now 10 hours later (at player level 30 with 28 games played) I'm doing something new and really strawberry floating cool every other mission.

One mission had me team up with the other team totake down a Mega T Rex! It felt like an MMO boss fight!. Another mission had thousands of raptors cascading from a 50 storey skyscraper. lt looked amazing.

It won't grab everyone, but if you're after a mindlessly shootey game to chat your mates during you can do worse than this I think. And the slow doling out of new content keeps you coming back.

My main is the flying support character. I love surveying the battlefield from relative safely, able to really swing the tide of battles by keeping everyone in the fight etc. I think I have an 80% win rate with her and I genuinely think it's because a good support is needed, and there's a dirth of them atm. You should check her or the witchdoctor out!
