This looks pretty incredible in terms of the action... but what the flip is going on?!? The screen is so hectic and there are so many bright flashes of colour that I don't know if I'd actually be able to see what is happening.

Capcom has announced details for the first three seasons, featuring new exosuits, maps and crossovers. Season 1 starts 28 July, with a title update following on 17 August. Season 2 featuring Street Fighter arrives mid-October and the Monster Hunter-themed Season 3 rocks in during January 2024.

It looks a chaotic mess. Probably fun for a bit, but I can see it getting boring when the novelty wears off.

But it’s in Game Pass, so I’ll be trying it.

It's also online and team based. Given the relative lack of fanfare, unless it turns out to be GOTY it'll be dead within 6 months. Though I do like the Street Fighter stuff coming later. Looks daft fun.

I'm thinking that Game Pass inclusion could mean that a fair number of folk get to try it out. And, yeah, the Street Fighter and Monster Hunter stuff may be worth checking out.

I tend to just state the hardware platforms rather than subscription services. The chat has covered that it's available via Game Pass, though :-).

Interesting point, I almost feel like "subscription services" should be a separate bullet point under format or something. It's important to know, but it's not the format eh?

Anyway I'll be checking this out for sure, will probably stream a few matches (and would team up with anyone in the Microsoft infrastructure.

That's a point, cross play exists but you can only party up with someone in your service, so that's Sony, Microsoft and Steam. PC Gamepass users cannot party up with steam people.

Interestingly I've seen speculation that this is very much the dino crisis origin story, with apparent nods that this takes place in the same universe. If this turns out to be the case I think we should give Capcom some props for not cashing in on name recognition and calling this something like Dino Crisis Elite Firesquad etc.

Guys, I've added a note to the details in the OP about Game Pass. Maybe in future I'll note about a game's availability on Game Pass or PlayStation Plus. It's potentially a bit tricky, though; should we also note, say, EA Play, Ubisoft+ and Apple Arcade? i guess we can see how it goes.

Oh I don't care, just thinking about how to categorise things in an increasingly difficult to categorise world.

I would say if a game is on a subscription service it's worth noting somewhere. It potentially makes the release more exciting - eg I wouldn't give this or lies of P a second look if it wasn't on there etc.

But I don't really care about how that info is given to me on here, or even if it is noted here! It's your thread do what you want!

Chalky, Fade and I tried this and we didn't get on with it.
While the game looks quite nice and runs well there's just so much going on on screen at times it all just gets frustrating.
I suppose it doesn't help that I think we somehow managed to lose every game of the about 20 or so we played and were never sure why.

I don't think we'll bother which is a shame as I'd like a change from Fortnite on Friday and Sunday.

That's a shame, Peter! Could be worth trying it at launch if you have Game Pass, though?

There does look to be a heck of a lot going on. I'm just watching this vid of the tutorial section to see if that helps build up a bit of an understanding.

This would be my dream game is it was offline. Basically Earyh Defence Force but with next gen graphics and dinosaurs. Bloody hate online only games.

The thing I found most frustrating was the matchmaking.

We didn't win a single game. It felt like they just put similar size parties against each other without any kind of skill based matchmaking.

It's pvp? I assumed it was mission based pve

It is but you're competing to see how quick you can do it.

Then at the very end you can fight the other team.
