Never like Ascension, it's too pokey and with the 2 snipers spawning in both towers, if players a skillful enough it turns into a no mans land in which you get sniped attempting to do anything in their line of site. It's also not a BTB map so automatically not as awesome as others. :datass:

I loved those intimate maps in the old games, they were really worth mastering as they all had the elements that make for great map design like choke points and snipe points. You always knew where the rocket launcher would be, where the sword would be, where the rifle would be. The tension as you tried to keep around the corner to the sword not knowing whether an opponent had beaten you to it was immense.

Then 343 and Halo 4 came along and all that tension just disappeared, it became another COD clone with mindless running and gunning, the tension and excitement from the first 3 games and Reach were completely gone. Really wish they'd return to their roots with 6.

You just couldn't let it be.

You forget Halo 5 exists. It's mp is outstanding.

It just doesn't have that magic though.

Ivory Tower is a great example of Bungie's level design and weapon placement.

- Sword hidden behind the lift in a tight coridoor
- The camping points half way up the lift
- The sniper rifle placed at the top of the lift
- The rocket launcher at the bottom of the waterfall

The placement of the weapons lead to brilliant, tense gameplay. One team would race to secure the sniper rifle and sword, while the other would go for the shotgun and the rocket launcher under the waterfall. It was a made dash from the beginning to make sure you had your weapons and positioning in place. The sniper and rocket launcher guy would play a game of cat and mouse trying to take each other out while the rest of the team would fight on the flanks trying to secure the balcony.

You can't beat that.

For a start when there's multiple people running around with rocket launchers because the spawning is all over the place it completely destroys everything I mentioned in my previous post, it just kills the tension.

Unless you joined a weekend game session of Rockets then that simply doesn't happen. I don't believe you've ever played it tbh but not going to derail this topic. Suffice to say, you literally don't know anything about it.

It's excellent and caters for all types of mp players be it, fire fight, 4 v 4 team arena, 8 v 8 Warzone, Warzone Assualt, Breakout, Action sack, BTB, Halo 3 BTB, a Halo 3 specific mode (takes away mantling and sprint) and Co-op campaign all on dedicated servers. Everyone has same abilities and yeah, it's pretty great.

Why is nick not allowed to criticise halo 4/5?

I'm not saying I agree with him or anything as I only played Halo 5 MP once or twice with you.

He's not had the experience to justify giving it an opinion other than 'it hasn't got the same magic' which is nebulous bullshit. I'm not in the least bit pished, he points out how 343 ruined Halo despite never playing 5. Now I'm not a fan of Prometheans and although I enjoyed 4&5's campaigns they are nowhere near Bungies efforts (bar 2, 2's campaign is awful) but Halo 5's mp is better than 4's and Reach by some distance. So now 343 have that down, I hope the Halo 6 will nail the campaign. They've nuked Halo 5's narrative completely so hope 6 will see if they can turn in something good.

I was enjoying talking about the old maps also, didn't want this to turn into 343 are gooseberry fool lol...

Looks crazy weird when he put FOV to 105, I thought he was reloading a pistol instead of an Assault Rifle.

Halo hasn't been peer 2 peer since Halo MCC, all it's mp is on dedicated servers 60fps as are Halo 5's.

MCC works. I literally have a video of me playing 3 different Halo games mp on it on the last page.
