I take it that you don't pirate anything at all and that you hold the same opinion for every piece of modified content everywhere?

I havent pirated anything in years, the one thing I NEVER EVER did is pirate a game because its counter productive.

I never heard of a mod releasing a game illegally and circumventing its sole means of making a profit they arent modders they are hackers (14year olds/neckbeards/virgins).

And i'm repeating myself here, but what exactly do you mean by "piracy"? Copyright infringement, stealing (which isn't the case as MS still have all the assets), or what? Because what they have done is certainly copyright infringement, however there are arguments that mechanisms such as copyright do more harm than good. and, as I have already said, that seems to be the main angle that MS are taking on going after the people doing this.

The argument is far from bullshit - there is a demand for Halo on PC that MS aren't fulfilling in a satisfactory manner, so customers are making their own way. I will concede that saying "MS should have done this or that" is silly; you can't change what has already happened. What they should do now is instead of playing domain whack-a-mole to stop these people is offer a better product - something that is easier to use, more convenient and available officially.

Also just because someone has made something it doesn't mean they are automatically entitled to make money from it if it is offered in a way that people don't want to buy.

Where am I going? I was asking a question. Quite often people seem to think pirating games/movies is awful but carry on streaming sport.

Looking at your post history, you appear to have been interested in streaming sport before and seemed quite upset when Ireland blocked the Pirate Bay. Those posts were a few years ago though which fits with you saying you haven't pirated in years.

Copyright infringement is Piracy, to be honest they are releasing the game with no microtranactions and in regions its not supposed to I'm not getting bogged down in the specifics, rather, MS hasnt greenlit such things yet.

I'm presuming if people want to play Halo 3, MCC and Halo 5 Microsoft's answer is to buy an Xbox. I still believe MCC is PC bound but maybe late 2016.

I gave up streaming sport a couple of years ago because my eyes bled at the pixels, time delays and russian commentary. BT and Setanta in Ireland is very cheap €12 a month and thats saturday 3pm kick offs and 12:45 games on BT along with Ice Hockey if you're interested (go Minnesota Wild). I have every Sky station there is also plus netflix so I dont need to stream movies I just wait till they come to either service.

I'm not going to keep banging on about this, on the one hand im glad that Brer (who was rather handy at Halo3 from memory) gets to play it but on the other hand its blatantly illegal whats going on. In closing, you should all buy Xbox One MCC bundles and join me in some BTB.

(and yes it does work).

I'd rather play with a mouse and not have to invest over £200 for one game so, until something official comes to PC, I'll stick with Halo Online.

Good for you.

I hope you don't use UnblockUS or anything like that with Netflix though.

Nope.

Photek wrote:Copyright infringement is Piracy

Also nope. Please define piracy, because if you include the word "theft" or "stealing" then that definition is immediately void; as those terms imply the removal from the owner. In this case nothing has been stolen, MS still have all the code and resources for the game. Neither have they "lost potential revenue"; who's to say that anyone playing the bootleg version would have given MS money in the first place, especially people who may have never got to play it "officially" in the first place?

Yo Trelliz, why did this happen then?

Microsoft issued Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown notices to the copy of ElDorito posted on collaborative code-sharing site Github, and it has since disappeared. But the ElDorito team hasn't been put off.

Also:
"We of course still don't know 100 per cent what items are purchasable with real money, but it would appear at first glance to have pay-to-win potential," modder Woovie told TorrentFreak. "We also of course want to play this game, which as far as we see, is a Russian market only game.

"Microsoft is probably quite bothered by what we've done already"

It reads like the mantra of a the neckbeard fedorra wearing virgin.

Trelliz didn't say that copyright infringement isn't illegal. He asked you to explain the link between copyright and piracy without using the words theft or stealing, or words to that effect.

So as I said, semantics, its really not the issue here, insert the word 'illegal' where I said 'piracy' it makes you feel better Trelliz.

No, most of them are 30 something software engineers with a passion for PC gaming and Halo who reverse engineered a broken build of Halo Online so that people outside of Russia could play it. I know it probably pains you a bit that people are playing a version of Halo that wasnt a broken mess with a price tag of 69 euro but going for kiddy style insults is no argument at all

Maybe its broken because it hasnt even had a closed Alpha, never mind a Beta test.

I just finished broken mess MCC Halo 3 last week in online co-op....? It's not a broken mess anymore dude.

What are you talking about now? Brer's point is that this broken PC version is still better than the broken Xbox version that was sold last year for €70.
