I'd prefer to see them given time to listen to people's reactions to Fable 1 before working on the next installment.
Fable could be an awesome game if they take stock of what they have and what people like.

Lionhead do have two teams so I suppose it's possible to have both on the go.

That doesn't really address my issue though. If Fable 4 is pencilled in some point next year then it's too late for them to make meaningful changes depending on how people react to this Fable 1 remake. They should be introducing a new IP first and leaving Fable 4 until 2015.

New IPs? We're talking about next gen fisher prices mate. It's all franchises, sequels and DLC from here on out.

They would have to be making it now though to release even then surely?

You can already play the first one on the 360 can't you? Would have made more sense to put this out on the Xbox.

Looks like they'll make it and then they'll have the trilogy on 360.

I can see them possibly changing the other two games after seeing the 'Every choice has a consequence' line. That would be cool.

At least it would see some reasonable improvements, maybe even running on a new/modified next gen engine.

This will just be either a carbon copy of the first game, or Fable III reskinned.

Yeah but if its not that far along then it is easier to implement changes that matter.

Honestly, F1 with fancy graphics and sorted combat would be a joy to behold. The rest of it is fundementally good.

 Oh yes.

They just need to make sure you can re-enter the Guild after defeating Jack of Blades so that the quests you didn't finish the first time through are still accessible. Other than that this should be wonderful.

Also - 360? :D I'm going to buy it second-hand and lend it to all my mates. :datass:

EDIT:

Correct.

Actually, come to think of it, it would be nice if they could add some ways for you to earn money if you're trying to be good, as the only way to turn a profit in F1 was to be a cruel, sadistic bastard.

Fable 1 isn't even that good. It had charm etc, but it isn't even as good as the second one if you do a side by side comparison.
I did play it a lot though.

Could be. But is it likely they'd launched both in the same window. Maybe the remake will be this year, and will help build a new audience for the franchise, and Fable IV next year on the XBone.

I'll buy it day 1 but I like the fact that it won't be just new HD graphics but the trailer uses the word 'remake' which implies improvements and expansion of gameplay.

'Improvements'. Fable 1 is different to the other two, and should remain so.

It may be different but they could improve some of the stuff that was blatantly unfinished

Update - Major Nelson has confirmed the game's title: Fable Anniversary - it's based on the Lost Chapters edition of the original game. In an unsurprising turn of events, you can expect Xbox 360 achievements alongside that HD update, plus SmartGlass features and oodles of improvements.

Lead designer Ted Timmins has this to say, via Lionhead's site. "We're really excited to be bringing a re-mastered version of Fable: The Lost Chapters to the Xbox 360. It's been one of the biggest community requests as we know how much the fans love the original game."
