I enjoyed Fallout 3 so much that I don't think 4 could ever live up to my expectations. I'm dreaming of a vast, enthralling gameworld for single player adventuring and I'm not sure if that's how it will turn out.

Even so, once it is announced I'll be booking my place on the hype train.

Geoff Keighley was doing glorified PR for Blethesda the other week, so probably.

I can't even get my head around the size of this project. What I want is a next-gen sequel to Fallout New Vegas. Doesn't need to do anything that differently, TBH.

However, part of me keeps thinking how cool it would be if there was a touch of Destiny-style MMO about it. The 'modular' storyline would work in that style, and the ability to team up and form clans, side with tribes, etc, would be lush. The direction this gen is going suggests to me that MP is a bare minimum.

But what if that ruined the game? What if they didn't pull it off? I'd be devastated.

More torn than Natalie Imbruglia after a night with Lenny Kravitz.

Keep your filthy MMO out of my immersive single player RPG please.

If I were them I would just wait until E3 2015 and announce for November that same year. Then again, I suppose they could just tease something at VGX and then stoke the hype train when it comes to E3 with gameplay footages and such.

Yeah, I know... no question that single player would be cleaner.

I'm pretty sure we'll see a trailer at VGX for Fallout 4. It be just like when they showed the Skyrim trailer at the VGAs, we all went crazy, then bought the game the following Christmas. 2015 will two years since the new generation was first released, and then you take into account the time since the release of Skyrim (2011) and the DLC (2012). Bethesda have obviously been working on something since then!

A skyrim remaster would do nicely for now. Ps3 gamers need one!

Oh strawberry floating hell please let that be true. Oh strawberry float.

(Confession time: I never played Fallout 3 properly - I was a right bastard, went through and robbed from everyone, killed whoever I wanted. The game was much worse for this as all my conversation paths were limited. I would love the chance to play it again in glorious PS4-o-vision and do it properly.)

Being realistic... "Fallout Ultimate Collection". Are they really gonna re-visit the entire Fallout series and re-master them? The name suggets a cheapo PC collection of all of the games*.

My fantasy is that this is the "Fallout 3 Ultimate Collection", containing Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas for PS4, XBO and PC with updated visuals. Keep the gameplay... no changes are needed.

* Although I recall that the earlier Fallout titles had a different publisher. Awaits PC Supremacist** to confirm.

From what I gather some of people who did Fallout 1&2 also does New Vegas, which shows in the characters/story.

I love Fallout 3 but I'll admit that NV has much better characters & storyline, and the gameplay felt more solid. Still love both to bits as well Fallout 1 (Didn't play enough of Fallout 2 to comment)

I'm pretty sure that Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics are now under Bethesda's control, like 3 and NV. In fact, the move of IP rights over 1, 2 and Tactics from Interplay to Bethesda led to GOG giving said games away for free before it delisted the games.

We may see a Fallout Ultimate Collection with 3, NV and all the DLC released on PC, PS4 and X1 but I can't see 1, 2 and Tactics making it to consoles.

Wouldn't 1, 2 and Tactics be suited to mobiles, tablets, the 3DS and Wii U?

Why do people want Fallout 3 and NV redone? I was playing F3 a few months ago and it is still absolutely fine. Graphically it was probably a little dated on release, so you don't really notice its looks now.

I still need to get around to NV, but barring bugs, I am not sure what needs doing to it.

I am baffled by the clamour, yet again, by the desire to remake games for the new consoles, when they are more than playable on the old ones.

Does every new installment in a franchise need to be preceded by the older games being re-released?

Halo is vindicated somewhat by the fact that two of its games are older than the previous generation and all the multiplayers are now on one disc.

For Fallout, they would probably just be upping the resolution. People are also after a Skyrim remaster too - just go and play the original! I only started Skyrim in the summer and it is still amazing and absolutely fine on the 360.

We need less clamour for old games needlessly brought (somewhat) into line with the new hardware and more new titles made specifically to take advantage of them. Usually the remakes only begrudgingly bring them to speed anyway, and their previous-gen roots still remain evident.

Saying that, I do eagerly await Fallout 4 - a game that will have been designed for these new consoles and extra power.
