2299 eh? That's a good 18 years after the end of NV too, so a good step into the Fallout future.

If it's set in Boston I expect there'll be a lot of involvement with The Institute that you run into in Fallout 3, so probably androids running around the place.

I have actually heard rumours of a new race other than mutants, ghouls or humans. Perhaps androids would fill that role?

Don't think I'll be picking this up. Going to be more selective next gen, only picked 3 and NV up because they were cheap.

Given the setting it seems quite possible.

How selective do you have to be not to be interested in Fallout?

I didn't enjoy the games, found them a bit of a chore TBH. Next gen I'm only going to buy games that I really want and when I'm ready to play them rather than building a game stockpile that I've done in every other gen.

I'm sure one of the rumours was that it was going to cover both Boston AND Philadelphia. Interesting opportunity to set the cities that started America against the end of America.

My worry is that Bethesda are pretty awful at meaningful, memorable characters. I loved loved loved F3 but there wasn't a single character I cared about. It actually got worse with Skyrim with the NPCs being little more than talking mannequins. Fallout IS characters, the reason NV superseded F3 was the plethora of fantastically written NPCs. Hope Beth have clocked on to that.

Awesome :D

Loved Fallout 3 and 'New Vegas' last gen. Hopefully I'll be picking up an Xbox One around the same time this launches, can't wait.

Fallout 3 didn't really click for me.

And I bloody loved Oblivion. And I adore the 50s style Sci-Fi style movies and comics. So I should love Fallout 3... but I didn't. I don't know why. I just sit there bored while I play Fallout 3, finding myself wanting to play another game.

One thing is that you can't blame me for not giving it a proper go. The game save clock said I've been playing it for almost 30 hours. Must have hoping it does get better or something! Ah well.

You mean up until now I could have copyrighted it and sold it back to them for millions?

It'll be the PC version that's gooseberry fool.

Suzz why not fallout 3?

Ha! Why you are battling framerate issues, I will be walking around a world full of naked woman :datass:

Would much prefer this to be an Elderscrolls game, but Fallout NV was pretty amazing so wouldn't mind more of that.

Agreed. Skyrim is an odd game in that I loved it at the time but after reflecting on it can't help but feel like 90 of the 100 hours I sank into it were just a complete waste of time. Fallout 3 was better in that regard but like you said, it's writing and characters still couldn't hold a candle to New Vegas. I'd love to see what Obsidian would do with this, but hopefully Bethesda will rise to the challenge.

I was wondering about that, though. Could someone else had stepped in with a Fallout 4 trade mark? Imagine if they did... we'd have been stuck with 4allout :dread:

Only Bethesda could register Fallout 4 as a trade mark for video games because it contains 'Fallout' which is already Bethesda's trade mark.

Hopefully it's a few years away, as I said the other day 'Fallout 4 or an Elder Scrolls game will be my jumping on point for PS4'. Totally don't have the £££ at the moment. :slol:

Might also give them the opportunity to get to grips with the consoles so they don't run like gooseberry fool.

Someone should trade mark Nuclear Fallout 4. Or not.

Rumours suggesting we'll get the teaser trailer at the VGAs.

Makes sense. Skyrim was announced 2 years after Fallout 3 and released a year after that. Skyrim is 2 years old now so late 2014 release?

So this has been found on the teaser site, apparently...
