I've lost all interest in this now. Unlike previous games I feel no desire to restart as a new role. The unlimited level cap means every character becomes a generic jack of all trades anyway and the removal of skills means you can't "role play" as easily. That and the fact the game places a big focus on mine craft building just leaves me bored. I was actually really disappointed in this following on from new Vegas. The lack of any options in how to complete missions is a real step backwards, kill everyone or have a conversation THEN kill everyone...

That happened in the previous games anyway. You could get pretty much every skill up to 100 or in the 90s if you distributed specials properly and found enough skill boosting magazines.

I think the main thing this falls down on is the limited number of available paths through the story and lack of alternate ways to complete or end different quests. That was something that NV did well. After playing the Witcher 3 it becomes very obvious how lazy Bethesda have become in churning out these games.

For TES VI they need:
1. A new goddman engine, seriously. Not just Gamebryo with a new coat of paint slapped on again.
2. Branching storylines.
3. More varied play styles and real consquences for character development.

Haven't they said not to expect a new TES game for, well, a good long time? Feels like we won't see a new one until the PS5 is getting on in years. God only knows when a new Fallout will hit shop shelves, and I doubt either will be what you want, story-wise.

Mods out now for PC, XB1 in May & PS4 in June -

Fallout 4 - Mods Open Beta for PC Available Now

Mods and the players who create them have always been an important part of our games, going all the way back to Morrowind and The Elder Scrolls Construction Set. We believe that our games become something much more special, when we put the power of creation in your hands. New quests, environments, characters, dialogue, outfits, weapons and more – with Mods, the possibilities of what you can do are endless. You are creating new experiences that enhance and take our games into amazing and surprising new directions.

For Fallout 4, our goal was to make Mods easier and more accessible than ever before – for both the creators and the players. By building an all-new system with Bethesda.net we’ve made a huge leap forward in achieving that.

You can now browse and search for the latest and greatest Mods, choose your favorites, post feedback, and install them – all within the game. Simply select Mods from the main menu, and start browsing.

If you want to try making Mods (and we think everybody should), the Creation Kit – the same tool that we used to create Fallout 4 – is a free download via the Bethesda.net launcher. You can check out the Creation Kit Wiki, our online documentation and help file, for more details and tips on how to make them.

We plan to update and evolve Mods and the Creation Kit based on your experiences so be sure to leave feedback in our forums.

How to access the 1.5 Update in Steam Beta:

Log into Steam
Right Click on Fallout 4 in your Library
Select Settings
Select Betas
A drop down menu will appear. Select beta
Select OK
Wait a few minutes and Fallout 4 should update
When done, Fallout 4 should appear as Fallout 4 [Beta] in your Library

For console players, Mods will be coming to Xbox One in May and PlayStation 4 in June. We have a lot to do yet, but we hope it changes console gaming the way it has changed PC.

Finally, we’d like to thank all the Modders who volunteered to beta test the Creation Kit and Mods during our closed beta. Your feedback has been invaluable and we couldn’t have done it without you. For them and for all our players, we can’t wait to see what you create.

Console mods might be something to get me back onto this, haven't played it in months. Like with most of the AAA titles released in the past couple of years 2 I've gorged for a few weeks after launch and then cast it aside like an old chicken bone. I really should stop doing that.

I'm using the Overseer's Guardian a lot these days, fully modded it's nigh-unstoppable. However, I just found a legendary Combat Shotgun (which I whimsically named Party Starter), which uses those neat explosive rounds, and I used it to take out a group of poorly armed Super Mutant Primi attacking Jamaica Plain. I don't know what to do, it's a good gun but it's heavy, and I'm already armed to the teeth.

Maybe I'll ditch my pistol (Righteous Authority) and sword, but I'm keeping my Gauss Rifle because it's a beast. :(

I'll probably have to have a two or three weapon max policy for my survival mode run. Speaking of which, when is that update supposed to be released for consoles?

Starting today, Fallout 4's 1.5 update is public for all users on Steam.

Along with support for our upcoming add-on, Far Harbor, and additional gameplay optimizations, the 1.5 Update features the revamped Survival Mode which incorporates a number of changes based on beta feedback. Thanks again to all those who participated! The update is live for everyone on Steam and we anticipate it coming to consoles next week.

Also in development, Creation Kit and Bethesda.net Mods are still in open beta on PC. Our current plan is to make Mods available on Xbox One in May -- starting with a beta -- and bring Mods to PlayStation 4 in June.

Fallout 4 1.5 Steam Update (1.5.157)

New Features

New Survival difficulty
Survival adds additional challenges including no fast travel, saving only when you sleep, increased lethality, diseases, fatigue, danger and more. See the in-game Help menu for more details.
Characters set to Survival difficulty appear under their own Character Selection filter
Third person camera movement improvements when player is close up against walls and other objects

Fixes

General stability and performance improvements
Fixed rare crash related to reloading a save that relies on Automatron
Fixed issue with the robot workbench camera not moving properly immediately after canceling out of the menu
Fixed issue with perks being repeatedly added when reloading a saved game while in robot workbench
Fixed issue with Ada not properly traveling to an assigned settlement
Robots can now be assigned as settlement vendors
Fixed issue with "Appropriation" where blueprints would not appear properly if the container had already been looted prior to getting the quest
In "The Nuclear Option," entering the Institute using the targeting helmet on Power Armor no longer inadvertently causes the player to go into combat, and become stuck in the Institute
Fixed distance check with Robotics Expert perk
While in Workshop mode, if the Jump button is remapped, the Y or Triangle button can still be used to jump
Fixed issue with "Defend the Castle" where speaking to Ronnie Shaw would not properly complete the quest
During "The Nuclear Option," fast traveling away from the Institute immediately after inserting the relay targeting sequence holotape will no longer block progression
Fixed issue where Workshop placed light bulbs would occasionally not light properly
Fixed occasional flashing issue with entering and exiting Power Armor
Fixed issue where terminals would not work properly after downloading and initializing an Add-On from the Add-Ons menu

Hope they patch Curie and the Silver Shroud quests, they're really pissing me off.

I don't recall ever having a bug with the Silver Shroud quests.

I killed the first guy and put the card on his body, but the radio only plays Silver Shroud stories and I cannot access the room in the Memory Den with the mission giver. I cannot put any more cards on the body, which will not de-spawn, as it says I cannot remove quest items from my inventory. Similarly, the Silver Shroud armor is also un-put-downable.

It happened so long ago that I've given up on re-loading my old save. Only a patch can save me now.

Ha, I'm the opposite with the Shroud's armour - I dropped it and I can't remember where :fp:

I love the look of the armor, and it is fairly light, so I'm not too put out by that - though I do wish it could be upgraded with ballistic fiber. It's just being unable to complete the damn mission that's frustrating me.

Good thing I'll be attempting the revamped Survival difficulty later on in the year. Maybe I'll actually be able to get through with all missions complete.

Are you sure you put it on the body properly? When he says to put it on the body, they don't mean go into your inventory and transfer it, rather after you kill the guy, when you look at his body you will have the option of putting the card on it by pressing a button, just like how there is a button to open up the inventory.

Also, I believe I have encountered a bug...

Putting the card on the body was done via the prompt, not an inventory-to-inventory transfer. That prompt no longer appears.

Yeah and after that you turn on the radio and hear the news, and then you get the next mission.

I heard no such news on the radio, it just keeps playing the Shroud stories.
