myslef silly after I picked Rossi so early after a good display against the US but it's just the match winner thing, I've got Super Frank! And the whole 'Vierra rolling back the years'.
It works both ways though, both of the judges who voted for you basically said "old players are old and therefore gooseberry fool". To an extent I can understand them saying that about Pires and Vieira possibly, as they are in the autumn of their careers, but they can still do the jobs I want them to do, ie providing service to Owen/RVP and aiding my defence respectively. I just plain disagree with Owen being too old to be good, and I think with the service Valencia/Pires/Arshavin/RVP can provide, he'll have plenty of chances, and you don't need to have a ten second 100m in you to poke a ball in from four yards. Friedel is still a class player as well. I don't really need to explain it, he's one of the best keepers in the Premiership.
I didn't even think about pairing RVP/Owen up front and the catastrophic injury concerns that could've entailed
However, I'm combatting this by saying:
(a) Owen trains in a tracksuit made out of bubblewrap and healing hugs from his mum.
(b) Van Persie is banned from jumping on advertising hoardings and breaking metatarsals when he scores.
(c) Considering we don't have any substitutes system, having a player go off injured would be a really harsh deciding factor, as it would be like having a red card against your team, and quite unrealistic seeing as this tournament isn't set in the thirties.
(d) If one of them does go off injured and can't be replaced, Arshavin can move up from attacking midfield.
