WHAT ZELLERY! The best left side you've ever seen, starring Philip 'I can kick a ball really hard' Lahm and Hatem 'I'm a shitter version of an already gooseberry fool Aaron Lennon' Ben Arfa, shocking judging, also 'The Hunter' no pace :fp:

I don't think you're really giving Lahm and Ben Arfa much credit there Bork. :|

And Huntelar isn't really that quick, no.

On paper, it looks like an open game, but DowTeam and El Pronostico's All-Stars can't seem to find a finish, with both keepers on top form, particularly Brad Friedel, who makes one sublime save from a deflected Lampard shinner, twisting his ageing body in mid-air to fingertip the ball to safety. Increasingly, it looks like one mistake or one moment of magic will decide it, and so it proves as van Persie picks up the ball in the inside-right channel, and swivels and in the same fluid motion hits an astonishing, swerving strike into Reina's top-right hand corner, the luckless Spaniard left grasping thin air. DowTeam weather a late storm as Pires is sent off for simulation and the All Stars batter at the door, but Friedel and his three-man defence hold firm, ably assisted by Viera, who rolls back the years with a terrific performance.

Winner: DowTeam

Sorry, but the best left side you've ever seen is just stupid and 'The Hunter' is quicker than you think.

Okay it's a great left side. Certainly the best left side in this competition in my opinion.

Yes, he does seem to have slightly lost it. Although Jango's response to HoC's damning (and accurate imho) verdict on his toothless strikeforce does indicate to me that a raw nerve has been touched. Perhaps the realization that his team is rubbish is what caused him to abandon his own threadbaby. :shifty:

Damn right, though you haven't annoyed me half as much as the mystery fourth judge.

I keep meaning to congratulate you on the win, your side is very impressive and deserves to go through (against anyone else ;) ). I'm not unhappy about losing more about the reasons for why, for example HoC who gave the victory to you made some valid points against me, hence why I've not mentioned/moaned against what he's said, Zellery's, whilst first annoyed has just mainly been in jest, though the fourth judge :fp:

Hey, I said it was a close one. For me, your strikeforce was lacking in quality. Recoba's past his best, and I don't see Rossi doing the business in the middle on his own either. Elsewhere it was pretty even. Just for me that DowTeam had in Van Persie a player who is a definite match-winner on his day. As you can probably tell, I did put some thought into this. It's not as if I just said "DowTeam wins", is it?

I can take the strikeforce comment, I was :fp: myslef silly after I picked Rossi so early after a good display against the US but it's just the match winner thing, I've got Super Frank! And the whole 'Vierra rolling back the years'.

I admit I'm just very bitter and annoyed when I should be thanking you for doing this.

But for the moment,

It works both ways though, both of the judges who voted for you basically said "old players are old and therefore gooseberry fool". To an extent I can understand them saying that about Pires and Vieira possibly, as they are in the autumn of their careers, but they can still do the jobs I want them to do, ie providing service to Owen/RVP and aiding my defence respectively. I just plain disagree with Owen being too old to be good, and I think with the service Valencia/Pires/Arshavin/RVP can provide, he'll have plenty of chances, and you don't need to have a ten second 100m in you to poke a ball in from four yards. Friedel is still a class player as well. I don't really need to explain it, he's one of the best keepers in the Premiership.

I didn't even think about pairing RVP/Owen up front and the catastrophic injury concerns that could've entailed  However, I'm combatting this by saying:
(a) Owen trains in a tracksuit made out of bubblewrap and healing hugs from his mum.
(b) Van Persie is banned from jumping on advertising hoardings and breaking metatarsals when he scores.
(c) Considering we don't have any substitutes system, having a player go off injured would be a really harsh deciding factor, as it would be like having a red card against your team, and quite unrealistic seeing as this tournament isn't set in the thirties.
(d) If one of them does go off injured and can't be replaced, Arshavin can move up from attacking midfield.
