Nearly gave up on this, but have discovered Shangri-La and am back into it. Only 30% done, but a lot of upgrades and sidequests completed.

The Shangri-La missions...

Love the visuals. Gameplay/mechanics not so much.

Agreed. The Shangri-La gameplay was pretty bloody poor.

I think the best gameplay came about when you had to defend outposts and other settlements. I had several 'wow' feels during those sections. I don't think it's a coincidence that those were also the hardest parts of the game.

Have any of you unlocked the Buzzsaw (strawberry floating huge Nazi WW2 light machine gun special weapon)? It is devastating.

Edit: and try putting the scope attachment on the LK-1018 rocket launcher. Makes absolute mince meat of those Pagan's Wrath convoys.

Must admit I am finding this a chore to push on and complete again!

This arrived yesterday and I really am finding it sliding between sublime and utterly frustrating at an astonishing rate. First off, and I realise it's been said repeatedly: strawberry float all the animals in this strawberry floating place. Have they all been dosed with the rage virus or something?! It's pretty maddening to clear out an entire convoy of armed humans without taking a scratch only to instantly die because of some roided-up snake/honey badger/rhino from out of nowhere/strawberry floating EAGLE etc whilst frantically mashing healing syringes in my arm, watching my health decrease alarmingly. It's quite something to play a game where you can take out elite forces and then get destroyed by something that I could kill in real life, bare handed. Oh and also strawberry float the hunters. Fire arrow. Fire arrow. Fire arrow. Can't see him. Fire arrow. Wolf. strawberry float YOU.

Now I'm too angry to remember the positives. Oh yeah, the combat/stealth is really well done and the open worldinessness is fantastic, utterly gorgeous. I've spent most of the game so far wandering around with no idea where I am but not caring, gawping at the scenery. And getting attacked by frogs and christ knows what.

So yeah, I'll probably pick it up again tonight, but srs. Those strawberry floating animals man.

I have found shotguns to be very useful against most wildlife which isn't a rhino/a strawberry floating herd of rhinos.

Starbreaker, I agree, but it's more annoying to be trekking for ages to get somewhere (e.g. a distant Outpost) only to turn around and find a rhino or a big cat which takes you down. Happened to me way too often, though I didn't help myself by frequently getting distracted by karma quests and the like.

if you're finding it a chore, don't play it. It's fairly simple, or are you a trophy whore?

Nope, not a trophy whore at all - never saw the point of getting trophies just to show off. Will probably shift it now whilst I can get my money back. I do think FPS games just aren't for me and I never seem to be any good at them.

Stuff To Do: The Game. It's by no means perfect, but the sheer abundance of quests, side-quests, and collectables set in a fairly vibrant and emergent world make it an entertaining timewaster. Never truly excellent, but frequently satisfying.

Brick factory   Loved that music and the enemy deaths too.

I think I am going to side with Amita. I did start on Sabal's side what with Amita pushing drug production, but as bad as that is nothing is going to top child brides in terms of awfulness. So yeah, Amita it is.

See? I'm having the same issues I did with the third. Started playing it, enjoyed it a bit, stopped playing for ages, then went back to it and completed it and loved it! So, so far I've stopped playing it!

I ended up siding with Sabal, I must have missed the part with the child brides. Regretted it anyway, but I doubt there's a "right" choice anyway

You missed it because it's not there. Ubisoft's superior storytelling is just too much for SoK to handle.

I can't handle the truth. No truth-handler, I. I deride my truth-handling abilities.

Yeah I have no doubts about that, and that's why I am having as much of a laugh as I can before I get to the end and want to blow all their faces off with my 1887.

Sweet video SoK but that's not what happens to Bhadra. She's a Tarun...something. Keep playing, or read the notes scattered about.

That's good to know. Though my choice has nothing specifically to do with Bhadra but rather the idea itself.
Sabal wants to keep that tradition going, maybe not with Bhadra (who he sees as some holy figure or whatever) but the fact it is something he is for means I cannot back his vision. I have no doubt Amita will be for something which will make me want to reject her vision too, but right now I can't imagine it crossing a line like Sabal's vision does.

I have to admit, I'm loving this again towards the end. The gameplay mechanics are just unmatched in an open world game. For some reason, getting a heavy machine gun in my arsenal really improved things. I loved going all stealth with a bow, but this really helped when you're against any more than 1 or 2 enemies.

I switched it out now for a silenced machine gun, the shredder I think, which is amazing, and the special silenced sniper rifle you unlock, which is devastating.

I love the upgraded sniper rifle you get from the airstrip W mission. So much so that I ditched the compound bow for it  which I still love but it's pointless having for double skins as I have all regular skin item upgrades, and it's easier to get very long distance kills with the sniper than the bow.

Yeah, she's kinda like a female Dalai Lama, not a child bride!

I sided with Sabal, which is weird because I'm firmly non religious and hate religious nonsense and dogma. However, the game didn't display any abhorrent aspects to the Kyrati culture and Amita wanted to destroy all of Kyrat's history and traditions which seemed barbaric and would lead to a revolt in the real world.

Although it seems Bhadra is the only child to appear in the game I am assuming there are other children in Kyrat. My decision had nothing to do with Bhadra but was based on Amita saying Sabal was for child brides (because tradition). Watch the video. Read what I actually posted.

It doesn't matter to me if there is nothing in the game about child brides other than what Amita says. If it's tradition, and if she's telling the truth, then strawberry float Sabal.
