Most of the LO music is amazing. The boss battles (especially the last boss) are brilliant

That is what battle music should sound like.

Eternal Sonatas is better.

True I like it. It really suits the combat in the game too.

That's the song for the Old Sorceress too? Do you have the "un mixed" version? I don't reacall the backing in the game?

Or the English version? :P

Another Music thread, and another Tim Follin post from me. Possibly THE most chilled piece of music to ever go into a game. So good in fact, that's it's been my alarm ringtone for the past 5 years.

Soul Edge

Back in the days when Namco used to produce great music. Bring Back Khan's Super Session, dammit!

Stunning, and to think most Khan's Super Session was undiscovered by most owners of the game :(

English Version of that song. I don't like Cooke/Mack, but I thought that was a really powerful moment of the game...

Another amazing Soul Calibur tune, every subtle note and drum beat is timed to perfection.

Which time?

It's pretty high up on my list - the music, the remains of Sarah's child around her...The fact that you weren't told (at the start) what that song was, but you could work it out

Although there so many brilliant moments - both plot/character/acting/music wise...

Cooke/Mack were ok, some annoying parts (mainly running off to the Auroa), they just seemed out of place with the rest of the game.

I've got Seth's song on repeat at the moment...

Kazenone, I believe is the track name?

Crystal Chronicles was fun. It's a shame that Square have made some very strange changes to the franchise direction for it's sequels. I didn't enjoy what little I played of Ring of Fates, and the Wii title looks... uninspiring. Even assuming that it's still in development, it's never going to match the grandeur of FFXIII, so even taking it in an FMV heavy direction seems like a waste of time that could be better spent recapturing the simple graphical pleasures of the first game.

Life as a King seems like it'd be OK, but I point-blank refuse to pay for horse-armour, and in any case, the whole franchise is moving away from the multiplayer element that marked the original out as a natural successor to the wonderful Secret of Mana series - which is itself another fine example of Square losing the distinguishing features of their much loved SNES games.

It seems to me that the multiplayer elements of FF:CC marked it out as a near perfect hybrid of MMO and traditional jRPG. Social, but still limited enough that the traditional models of playing and selling games remained valid. Essentially, Final Fantasy with co-op play. As far as I'm concerned any lack of success on CC's part was mostly related to the need to have a Gamecube and four GBAs.

Secret Of Mana

Sword of Mana

I actually heard that last tune first on the gameboy version of the game - Mystic Quest or Final Fantasy Adventure (depending on region) - brings back so many memories.

I love this one. Have you ever heard the original tune on which it's based? It's a bit different but Grant Kirkhope pisses all over it.

Nope, don't think so. Where can I listen to it?

Where it was a quite staggeringly beautiful tune, especially for the platform.

Infact you should dig out the cartridge and record the audio for the good people of GRcade. I remember it being FAR better than the Sword of Mana version.

Crikey, chaps, no need to go overboard! Good choice on that PW track Crimson, it's my phone's ringtone until I find something better. :) Time for another couple of favourites of mine, this time something a tad more obscure...

Super Monkey Ball 2 - Boiling Pot

Ristar - End Credits Theme

The latter track encapsulates a substantial portion of my childhood memories of gaming.

Agreed. Too many youtube links slows the forum - or possibly my entire computer - to a crawl. We're all going a little 'tube happy right now, which is understandable, but I think we may need to come to one of those "gentlemen's agreements" on how many is too many.

And here's a better version of that Mystic Quest/Final Fantasy Adventure theme that MrBrown was going on about.

Hulohot, nice picks, especially the metal gear solid 3 ones - by far the best story of all the metal gear games

Yep it was called Kazenone. I agree, I don't like what they're doing to the series, especially with regards to changing the style of the Wii version of the game. I was looking forward to a version similar to the Cube game, with some improvements and online play. The online play would definitely benefit the game moving away from the need to get for GBAs into your house, making the multiplayer more accessible. The multiplater seemed like a great feature even though I never used it. As for the DS game I'm quite enjoying it :)
