Obviously Hyrule is a nice place to wander around, but I think my favourite place is Rapture,it's just a beautifully imagined place and I love the splicing(pun intended)of that old fashioned look with fantasy and horror elements.

Rockstar have created some wonderful places to cruise around in and I wouldn't mind spending more time in Raccoon City.

What says you guys and gals?

Kamurocho  Most other open world games I use fast travel as soon as it's made available, but in Yakuza I always hoof it. Especially the night time missions. Can't wait to run about in the new updated version in Yakuza 6.

Inaba in P4 is top tier

Your Affection>Heartbeat Heartbreak>Signs of Life

Tatsumi Port Island in P3 is good too though, best area theme in the series

Kamurocho in Yakuza 6 is an utter dream to run around.

I never fast travel because it's so cool.

Having spent over 100hrs roaming through it over the last 3 months at the detriment of every other game on all other consoles I have to go with Skyrim at the moment.

GTA VC holds a place dear to my heart too

I think my favourite sounds are the gambling machine fx, and echoes of baseballs pinging off bats as I peg it past the batting cages. Visuals wise it has to be ALL THAT NEON (doubly so after it's been raining!), and the various eatery menus.

Anywhere in Witcher 3, but especially Ard Skellig. Something about the music, the cliffs and the citizens meant I was always going back there whether I had a mission or not.

Eorzea from FFXIV would be nice, if it wasn't for the constant threat of physical gods being summoned, Imperial invasion, or bored engineers awakening apocalyptic death machines.

But at least Limsa Lominsa and Ishgard are pretty.

The world of MH would be pretty dope to live in. It's something that I've thought about a lot over the years. Pokemon is also another place I've dreamed of being in. Pretty sure everyone has at some point >,> Also Ivalice from FF XII. Speaks for itself tbh. XII being the exception, but I love worlds that have been expanded upon over years of playing them. Long series like MH and Pokemon that reside in the same world are really cool to see.

So many awesome world's/lands

Like others have pointed out rapture from bioshock is awesome. I am also a big fan of hyrule , but yeah all the awesome places in oblivion and skyrim need a shout out because I've spent so much time on those games loving the scenery.

There have been many but right now it’s Egypt in AC Origins. Stunning.

Oh, good call, Met - I, too, would like to wander around FF XIV! It would be equally marvelous to travel the world of The Elder Scrolls Online.

Perhaps rather oddly, I would also love to trek out into the wastelands of Mad Max. Such beautiful carnage... resplendent desolation.

The world created in Red Dead Redemption is a favourite of mine. Beautifully realised and very much immerses you into the wild west. I would very rarely fast travel.

Also, Assassins Creed 2 had some amazing locations, especially Florence

Vvardenfell in Elder Scrolls Morrowind, partly because it was the first open world I explored way back when. It also helped that, unlike later instalments in the series, you had to make your own way around the world based on directions characters gave you as opposed to a marker telling you exactly where to go. So you notice your surroundings a lot more. There were cool places like that city of towers separated by a criss-cross of canals.

I like most iterations of Hyrule but my favourite Zelda world has to be Termina for being weirder and more charming than the others.

Horizon: Zero Dawn's world holds a special place in my heart - incredibly immersive in a way I've seldom experienced, with all sorts of fascinating peoples and places. I try not to fast travel about the map if I can avoid it, as I love just getting to ride through the world. I'm currently at the end of the Frozen Wilds expansion, which is my favorite part of the game by far, and I just don't want to go, I don't want to leave the Banuk. :(

I've gotta echo the Assassin's Creed sentiments, those worlds were phenomenally well built. Not just II, but Brotherhood and Revelations as well, because I think more or less everywhere in the Ezio trilogy was fantastically well realized, even if Istanbul wasn't nearly as fleshed out with stories and side missions as it could've been if it had had more time in development. Boston in III was always a favorite, too.

They did an amazing job making the world feel alive and the only downside is the limited voice acting for the locals who say the same things over and over. The little things they put in like having people take bricks to building sites and plays that just happen and you can watch them and the actors will at the end rest for a bit and set-up for another sometimes different play.
I may be a little biased as it was my first game in 4K HDR but the graphics are also astounding.
