I grew up with them as my heroes, they still are. All footballers should be like them, no media around their personal lives, just around their football. Amazing footballers as well, Scholes can kick like a horse and Giggs (although ageing now) is an outstanding winger. Great role models.

He is the reason I started to watch Formula 1, the man is an utter legend, his personality, his sheer determination to do his best every time he goes out on the track and the fact he is an utter genius also helps.

and the same goes for this man as well

A truly loyal servant to a club who have given him nothing in return. He deserves to win medals but it's a shame he won't.

I agree with that actually. Given is a consistently great keeper who has stayed loyal to newcastle through thick and thin. A class act.

Kimi Raikkonen

He's had an awful year in F1 and it's easy for typically clueless Hamilton 'fans' to lol at him, but they are exactly that. Anyway, he's proven to be probably the quickest driver on the grid and is capable of some mesmerising performances (Suzuka 2005 anyone?). Next year he should be back on top again.

On top of this, he is just a badass mummy strawberry floater. Doesn't give a strawberry floating gooseberry fool about what anyone says and never gets involved in petty scraps that the likes of Alonso, Hamilton, Massa... Oh pretty much every F1 driver has. Hamilton even said Kimi had no balls after Spa this year (what a banana split, seriously), but no Kimi ignored it and that's probably the best thing he could have done.

Oh and his "I was having a gooseberry fool" moment live on ITV was just incredible. To think he made it up as well just makes him even more of a legend.

A good choice to be sure. I briefly met him and got an autograph back when he was still with us.

That man. Best footballer I have ever seen play the game and an inspirational man to boot. The Alf-Inge Haaland business is something that blemished him somewhat, certainly in the eyes of the footballing world outside Manchester United but as a United fan the man is an absolute hero.

Image

Not quite as good as Roy Keane but an absolutely world class footballer with an eye for a pass like nobody else, easily one of the best ever English midfielders and a league above the likes of Gerrard and Lampard. Thats not to mention he is the model professional, he lives quite close to me and he just lives life like a normal bloke - the complete opposite of the 'celebrity' footballer and a guy every young up-coming professional should try to emulate.

Image

Finally this guy - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might not be the best footballer I've ever seen but he's certainly put in some of the most memorable performances I've ever seen, not least that CL final goal that clinched the treble. Much like Scholes, an absolute model professional.

How any one can be seen as a hero after admitting to deliberately ending some one's career is beyond me. Regardless of the Alf-Inge situation the man is still a thug both to players and to referees. He has certainly got more of a level head now in management but an inspiration? A role model? A hero?

No chance.

Then again if Newcastle went down every season (Pretty much like Sunderland did) then he would win something every 2 seasons

Just to clarify, I was taking the piss with my Given comments. I'd take 17th in the Premier League rather than winning the Championship. T'is quite ironic that he actually did win something with Sunderland. :D

Why they let him go by not making his move permanent i'll never know. A few mates of mine said he was the best player that season and won Sunderland promotion.
