That man. Best footballer I have ever seen play the game and an inspirational man to boot. The Alf-Inge Haaland business is something that blemished him somewhat, certainly in the eyes of the footballing world outside Manchester United but as a United fan the man is an absolute hero.

How any one can be seen as a hero after admitting to deliberately ending some one's career is beyond me. Regardless of the Alf-Inge situation the man is still a thug both to players and to referees. He has certainly got more of a level head now in management but an inspiration? A role model? A hero?

No chance.

Wrong, wrong and more wrong. Roy Keane was not a thug, Joey Barton is a thug. Roy never did a thing off the football field, yes on it he was prone to losing his temper but he mellowed later in his career. Even then it wasn't such a regular thing, the Haaland thing was a mistake and to be frank Haaland was asking for a kicking with the things he was saying. The other guy it really kicked off with was Shearer and the man is an absolute detesable cvnt. The arguing/shouting/crowding of referees is nothing he should be criticised for because the vast majority of Premiership players are the same and 'Englands Lion' John Terry is worse for it than Roy ever was.

Off the pitch he was always a totally different man (and yes I have met him) and as good a guy as it gets. As a Manchester United midfielder not only was he quite possibly our best ever midfielder but he was a total inspiration to fans and players alike and single handedly dragged United to success on countless occasions - most notably the Champions League Semi Final against Juventus which was a truly inspirational performance. After meeting the man and reading his autobiography I view him as a complete inspiration as he has a wonderful outlook on the game and life in general and I'm a great admirer of how he always speaks his mind.

Summed up perfectly. The greatest athlete of all time bar none.

Seeing as someone else has beaten me to Cantona:

Probably my all time favourite driver. Watching F1 in 1998 and 1999 was incredible thanks to this man.

One man should not have this much power in this game. Luckily I'm not an ordinary man.

You don't like Hamilton. We get it. But stop slagging off the people who do like him and calling them clueless.

I was coming into this thread to say pretty much the same thing.

Off the field he used to be a right banana split. He can't afford to be now he's a 'personality'.
