Probably the best walking shoes I ever had where some leather Timberland walking trainer things with squishy Vibram soles, that moved around your feet. They "worked" your feet while remaining comfortable, but in exchange for my Nike 6.0s my brother threw them away because he thought they were grim.

Still kind of cheesed off about that but have some proper boot leather high top Karrimor worth about £90 that, apart from the massive soles that don't really work on the street, are pretty much indestructible and are (somehow) dryer than wellies in mud.

Something like this but I'm not seeing the squishy stuff, it was literally like foam interspersed with rubber "scales".

£110 RRP! Jesus, I think I paid £60. Not attractive by any means but walking through strawberry floated up old town streets they were really good for my feet.

Edit: Ah I think the trick is "Compression molded EVA [foam] midsole", well recommended if you can find a shoe that's less hideous.

I powerwalk really fast to stay about 5% fit, which is bruising and quite bad for the shock to the spine if not properly cushioned. The body just isn't designed for walking on rock hard concrete. There's some good work out there for combining trainers with walking shoes, flats, boots etc.

I don't like the word infantilising, get older grandpa!

Edit: where are DCs in this poll? Mine have lasted bloody ages. I mean literally years with minimal signs of aging whatsoever.

I have 2 pairs of trainers. I have a beater pair, which are some old Slazengers I got cheaply a couple of years ago, and a "good" pair, which are New Balance.

I imagine if I loved comics I'd get a pair of those.

I'm after some classic summery white trainers. Any suggestions? Preferably nice and comfy.

Oh, man, I love the look of those Marvel Avengers Vans! The winged design looks ace!

The days of dropping £65 on trainers are gone for me, though. Plus I never get on with thin-soled, thin canvas shoes now - I have to get ultra padded ones 'cos of my weird feet.

Some plain looking Nike running shoes for general cutting about town and some more pricey knit fly Nike ones for actual running.

Used to do the converse/vans thing but they are all style no comfort. I can go on foot for hours in running shoes, canvas shoes give me blisters
