Dont know what the strawberry float is going on with Fifa FUT. Before my team was 45% compatible and winning games fairly easily now they are a lot stronger and 100% yet teams are easily beating me and my team cant seem to pass to each other mark or even get a shot in yet the commentary keeps praising my side. Its winding me right up :x

This finally finished downloading last night. Only took a day and a half :dread:

Will give it a run tonight. Have kept my copy of FIFA 15. Taken Cheltenham Town to far to get rid of it. Liverpool for FIFA 17.

Are these articles about sales numbers true?

http://www.digitalspy.com/gaming/fifa/n ... -pes-2017/

FIFA 17 selling over 1.1 million copies in the UK in its first week is a record for the franchise. Some are predicting that the game will out-sell FIFA 13, which sold over 14.5 million copies. If so, EA can expect to recoup hundreds of millions of pounds.

This will be a bitter pill to swallow for Konami, as PES 2017 has received critical acclaim, with many (including ourselves) lauding it as a better game than FIFA 17. Sub-50k sales is undoubtedly a smaller figure than the publisher was aiming for.

Suggesting FIFA17 has done over a million in a week in the UK alone, whilst PES hasn't even hit 50k. Even as someone who prefers FIFA this is not good if true, Konami have a record for being ruthless recently, and no competition would be a very bad thing.

Wow, I didn't the gulf in sales would be that big. EA have seem to have gone absolutely crazy with marketing this year though.

This new Fifa is good but I don't care for the new Marcus Rashford story mode. And I resent EA for not putting any depth into the Manager mode - it's been pretty much the same for over 5 years, probably to steer us towards FUT.

I'll probably be buying Pro for the first time in 10 years. The passing is much better imo, more weighty.

I was surprised at just how dominant in sales FIFA is; of course it has always been clear that FIFA sold way more than PES but I didn't realise just how much more. Now I am a fan of PES but I agree with your point, Schumi; there *has* to be competition for publishers or else they'll stagnate and put out any old rubbish. It has been good for both football series that the other one has driven them to become better.

I don't see any way back for PES now, people are so invested in online seasons and FUT that they won't look at another game.

Does PES even work properly online yet?

Yes; I've played solely online on PS3 and PS4 since 2011.

Is the matchmaking still weird though, i got annoyed with everyone being barca and real madrid when i chose shaktar or even norwich. In fifa you get matched up with similar ranked teams or as close as possible where as in PES you get more points for a win but it wasn't enough to help. I got the idea i just don't think it was configured well enough.

It would be gutting though if PES goes as FIFA needs competition, saying that if i hated the gameplay one year i wouldn't buy it just for the hell of it.

These figures are from Neogaf thread on the topic.

2007
FIFA 08 - 1,391,435
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 - 787,382

2006
FIFA 07 - 1,480,000
Pro Evolution Soccer 6 - 970,000

2005
FIFA 06 - 1,000,000
Pro Evolution Soccer 5 - 800,000

They are PES's best numbers in comparison with FIFA (in the UK, worldwide stats I don't have), and they did get really close. Pretty sure PES was on a whole lot less platforms back then too compared to FIFA. PES has just fallen away so much, but FIFA has grown massively too now that EA put some effort into it.

Yeah PES 2 - 6 i think is when it was at it's best. My last favourite PES was the 6th one.

How do I turn off my defenders being magnets to the ball? The strawberry floaters kept running into the ball when im letting it to go out for a throw in or goal kick!

If you hold in r2/l2 or the Xbox equivalent and aim away the defender should run away.

I find it stupid that even if you hold the L stick in the opposite direction they still run at the ball

Yeah it's annoying that you have to go through so much effort to avoid the ball

What if you wanted to pass/clear the ball in the opposite direction with the defenders first touch though? Or control the ball away from the touchline so as to control it and not give a throw? If the defender running to the ball was completely controlled by the analogue while running to the ball none of those would be possible, the first touch would be forwards and probably knock the ball out of play. Holding L2+R2 to jockey it out works just fine.

6 was gooseberry fool. 5 was the end of the line for this series. I think it did decent numbers because the 360 had just launched as people were desperate for a new gen pro evo. Myself included. When i played it :dread: the horror.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

I loved 6 it actually had a stable online mode unlike most of the PES games since then.

Pro was always about the multiplayer for me, i suppose before online gaming evolved. Konami seemed to screw that up, and it went from bad to worse.
