Played the demo and it seems really good, some very satisfying volleys have been scored. The first ttouch flick option is quite interesting, usually of no use but can see it becoming quite useful in some instances.

Will probably get this for Christmas I imagine.

Been playing more of it and it just has that PES feel where the realistic response times, animations and physics all come together.

Usually FIFA plays like basketball where 2 teams continuously counter attack for the entire game. This time you really have to work for space and use build up play, which feels great by the way. I'm also getting some great tight scrappy moments where players bounce off eachother. You can also "beat the man" using nimble footwork using nothing but the left stick and switching the ball between feet.

PES is in BIG trouble!

Reading your posts fill me with dread as the reason I like FIFA games is because it doesn't feel like PES which i've always found to feel cartoony in some way. I was planning to pick this years up after missing the last but maybe I best try the demo first. :dread:

I think it just feels realistic and consistent, gone are the string-puppet animations, gone is that weird disconnect where players move slowly but the ball moves fast, gone is that end to end counter nonsense.

Graphics are rest too, as can be seen in the video. The accurate player models, animations and realistic looking celebrations have been combined with Frostbitr's excellent lighting, textures, cloth physics and bokeh.

Looking forward to reading impressions from seasoned FIFA players on here.

Damn, player likeness and animation (both facial and body) are way ahead of PES now, what a turn around!

PES, by comparison, has some weird Resident Evil 5 gooseberry fool going on with facial animations.

I really didn't think it looked that much different to FIFA 18 tbh graphically

I've ordered this on PS4 after seeing the disappointing Switch reviews, hopefully will arrive today.

I'm thinking Sunderland will be a fun choice for Career mode this year, opportunity to build them up over a few seasons. :toot:

I ended up buying it launch day again.

Determined not to play FUT this year. Not got anything against the mode other than it's MMO levels of grinding. I put a STUPID amount of time in last year, and then when I'd finally got my 'Ultimate Team' I played one game and haven't turned it on since.

They've really changed the shooting technique this year. Think it's going to take a while to get to grips with.

The new tactics format looks good.

I actually really liked the more stripped down version of FIFA18 on the Switch last year. I'm not arsed about how pretty the crowds look, the interaction with players as a manager when completing deals etc. I just want a solid playing football game with a manager career mode which is what I got with that. It also controlled and looked really good on the Switch screen too. I put about 155+ hours into it so I got my monies worth out of it. I will get this years and although I know I'll get my monies worth out of it I know that it will be almost half the price in the black Friday deals on Amazon next month just a month after its release. I'll hang on till then I think.

I actually picked this up in GAME yesterday

It comes with a guaranteed £35 trade-in price if you trade it in within a couple of weeks - which for me is pretty handy as I only got it so I can finish 'The Journey'

Once that's done, I'll trade it back in for the new Assassin's Creed next week; I reckon £15 isn't too bad for the conclusion of one of the finest examples of gritty, genre-defining and boundary-pushing dramas of recent years.

I called off his players' names as they came marching up the steps behind him....All nice guys. They'll finish last. Nice guys. Finish last.

Online seasons broken for anyone else?

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

Saw this for sale in the entrance of Sainsbury’s yesterday: an eye watering £51.99. And this was for the standard edition!

I remember when I used to pay £35 and got a free pair of pants from The Hut.

In 18 if you held shoot then tapped it again it was a low shot. (I used this a lot). They've now replaced this with tapping again resulting in what they are calling a timed shot. You have to get it spot on though, if you do the shot is more powerful and accurate. Most times I've not been though so you fluff the shot.

You now need to hold LB & RB for a low shot which is probably less intuitive.

Main difference though is you only have to press to the left or right very slightly otherwise it goes wide.

Alltogether it means there's a lot more skill required to score which in one way is good but I can see it putting a lot of people off.

EA Sports to Eurogamer wrote:We have seen the concerning report that details allegations against Cristiano Ronaldo. We are closely monitoring the situation, as we expect cover athletes and ambassadors to conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with EA's values.

Depending on how things play out, would EA change the box art mid season? Probably wouldn't be that difficult to do.

I can't recall many occasions where a game was changed during its release, though it has happened (The Getaway had either a BT or Royal Mail van I think removed; one of the F1 games on the PS1 had its FIA sticker removed from the box because Sony's license had expired; and WWF No Mercy was changed because it had a saving error).

At least EA gave a better statement than Juventus...
