Maybe it's because some people can't fight their own battles?

It's taken a hell of a long time to get to a place where racially abusing people is unacceptable. The last thing most of us want is a return to the days when it was acceptable to use racial slurs.

You are also ignoring the possibility that people might be offended as the words might personally effect them. Not all Jews look "Jewish", not all disabilities are obvious, you can't tell somebody is gay just by looking, people can have a partner who is of a different race.

In the end it all comes down to basic decency and politeness. Don't be a dick and don't act surprised/offended if somebody calls you out for being a dick.

No, I get what you're saying. I wouldn't want racial slurs and things to become the norm, I dunno. Maybe I should think of it from varying perspectives other than my own. I can understand that sometimes people need to stand by their fellow human beings and show a united stance against hatred.
