Easter weekend, massive catch up.

Killing Fields - 8/10
Tomboy - 6/10
Mad Max The Road Warrior - 9/10
Mean Streets - 7/10
Hunt for Red October ( I actually watched this over Xmas) - 8/10

Still need to see the signal.

Some good shows so far this year, no real stinkers yet.

The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them in parliament.

Tomboy - 6/10

Okay film, nothing too spectacular happens but the story is consistent throughout. The one thing of note in this movie is how children are portrayed which is much better than in most films.

Overall not a bad watch even if it is a little slow.

Mad Max 2 - 8/10

I thoroughly enjoyed this film. While there are only bare bones of a plot and theres literally no dialogue, the action and chase sequences really set this film apart. I went into the Mad Max films knowing nothing of what they were about and I have found the first two immensely fun to watch.

Mean Streets - 7/10
I enjoyed it and thought Keitel was brilliant. However the story didn't really grab me, it was just De Niro being a dick?

Regarding Red October, it really is one of my favourite thrillers of the last 25 years. Also there's something rather unassuming about the way the film is put together - it relies on nothing but decent writing, solid directing and nice performances. No crazy editing, pointless shocks or OTT brutality.

It's just a really well-made, tense thriller. It has a PG-rating and yet it feels more grown-up than pretty much every adult-rated thriller I see these days. Which I feel says a lot about modern Hollywood, to me anyway.

Been meaning to watch The Hunt for Red October for years I kid you not! my dad had the VHS back in the early 90's and tried to get me to watch it (Would have been about 14 at the time it was release on VHS). I think I went to watch it when I was 17 but never got round to it.

Glad it got chosen and I can now check it off my list.

8/10

Also it's on UK netflix for those who have it.

Hunt for Red October 8/10

Great tense thriller with solid writing and acting. Don't think I'd ever seen this all the way through. Have now! Brilliant stuff.

Next film choices, all classic films, none of which I've seen. Glad this will change that. 8-)
Nearly had Seven Samurai as one of my choices.

I've only seen 12 Angry Men but I thought as it was my turn to pick I would use that chance to knock a few off my list that have been there for a while.

I'm curious as to which one of those three is your favourite?
