Happily running around the open world area at the start (hint: do missions until stuff unlocks or you'll waste time).

Enjoying it - fun to be in the world but you can already see open world bloat. I'm happy just to spend more time in the world but could annoy some.

8 hours played today. The music is exceptional, just makes every second exploring or fighting wonderfully atmospheric.

I really like the way each area has a tick list with rewards for what there is to complete. Not too much, not too little and a large variety of things to do.

I'm playing on performance mode, game still looks good and the world feels huge.

No negatives so far.

Wish my image sig would work

It made more sense in the OG but it's harder to believe no-one in Nibelheim knew the Shinra Mansion had a basement when there's a lift lit up and taking you right there on the ground floor

Only about another 60 to go doing most things in FFXVI, but well worth doing, loved 16.

This game is special. Loved Remake but given the points in story this covers this will blow it out the water. Only couple of hours in but so good remembering all the OG sequences and how they look now. Give this a proper doing tomoorow night!

You know you have to claim it on main menu and then in game menu?

Just finished an extended beach section.

Now back to an open world to explore. Struggling with a few of the card game challenges but apart from that it's all going well.

15 hours in and the game says I'm 40% through that story.

Wish my image sig would work

Just started this now.

Instantly in love with the head strawberry float opening!

Not such a fan of how they've removed the way the subtle stage direction of the original Nibelheim flashback maintained the ambiguity of who Sephiroth was talking to, Zack or Cloud the Shinra trooper, giving a nice "aha" moment to people replaying it.

I am so angry, I won’t be trusting Amazon with any Pre Orders again.

This is fantastic so far! But at the same time I can already feel myself getting frustrated at the "move slowly because we say so" bullshit of it all, seriously one of the worst aspects of modern game design

This is definitely doings its best to piss me off now.

between the yellow strawberry floating paint everywhere and creatures that pop up to lead you toward every point of interest it really is killing my sense of any self driven exploration :dread:

It definitely has some map clutter unfortunately… I dont think it is even possible to stumble upon some hidden location without having an interaction that puts a point on the map beforehand.
