It's just so sad to see that this is the direction they seem set to take the franchise.

When do you take proper control of Lightening in the game ? I managed to defeat Odin but it switched to the other characters after.

You don't get any say until about 20ish hours in. Until then you have to use the people the game tells you to, unfortunately.

Just started playing this last week. Putting in a few hours here and there and I've just gotten past the Odin battle.

I'm really enjoying it personally. Yeah it's linear as hell but that's not necessarily bad. FFX was really linear too and I loved it. Paradigms are an enjoyable way of controlling your party without having to micromanage everything and make for an interesting addition to the combat. I am looking forward to being able to choose my team though.

The Crystal based levelling system is good too. Again, it reminds me of the Sphere Grid from X.

Anyway I'm off to put some more time into this. :D

Really? Phew, that was a close one then. I almost bought FFXIII for £12 in CEX the other day. Lucky escape I reckon, because that just sounds utterly gooseberry fool.

Working on mastering each of the skills and doing some of the missions to make it less repetitive

Less than two hours into this.

I'm assuming there is a leveling system? I haven't noticed any form of exp earning after fights. Or indeed, any actual leveling up.

Edit: Nevermind. Crystarium.

So, after a 14 month break i've decided to revisit the game, and i've arrived at the end of chapter 11 where i fight Dahaka.. i've been trying to kill him for about 2 hours now and just got really close but i still died. This is probably happening because i play these games for the story, hence i skip most of the mindless optional battles making it borderline impossible to beat the bosses.

Do any of you fine souls have a save game you could send my way just before the fight with dahaka? I'm guessing your stats would exceed mine. I have the official primer, and have googled this loads - the save games on gamefaqs are all at the end of the game. Hope someone actually reads this.

You should just go back and grind. Or cheat and look up his battle strategy. He's one of the few bosses that I had no problem with. A synergist is a must in this fight. I used Lightning/Hope/Fang throughout the game. If you can debuff him with Fang, all good.

Cheers mayne. After about 2 hours of trying , i finally learnt how to play the game properly i.e. using dispel and dispelga at the right times. after that the boss was easy although something that PISSED me off was my battery ran out JUST as i staggered him for the third time, and instead of pausing the game it just carried on so i lost a whole stagger.

I want this game to end now, its getting way too hard now and the story is far too few, me no have fun :(
