I have read that any weapon can be transformed in an ultimate weapon, but am a bit sceptic about this to be fair

Basically you raise a weapon up to its * level (the initial weapons star at level 24, 2nd level weapons at 60 I think) and then you need a transformation catalyst (the -ite items) to turn it into the next level/form. Each character has 8 different weapons and each weapon has 3 levels/forms. To get ultimate weapons then you need trapezy thingies and you get those late in the game.

guess Im gonna have to put some serious hours into grinding then

Obviously there are better weapons to start off this process than others as well. Certain weapons can end up with higher maximum strength/magic. The very best weapons can only be bought from the Gilgamesh shop which dosen't open until you defeat Mark 54 I think? I'm glad I have the guide or I'd have no idea about this.

Mark 54 means, completing 54 hunter missions???

No, just mission no. 54.

The last boss isnt that difficult, once you complete the game you can go onto level 5

I have been reading a bit about gran pulse, not that I needed to read a lot to get the sense of sheer epicness that this level has... I think that in a sense it is clever that the game unfolds like this towards the end giving you all these things to do and adding so much scope to the game.

On the other hand it is a shame that some of this non linearity hasnt been introduced during the other parts of the game.

I think that as far as the story goes being in Chapter 11 I do not have much left? am I correct in this?

I have read some tips for the later hunter missions and I have to say I do not think I will have the patience/time to pull them off

Chapter 11 is the longest. 12-13 are reasonably short

I really ought to get back to this and get it finished. I'm right at the very end of chapter 12 (after defeating the boss) but I just haven't got round to doing the last one. Any idea how long Chapter 13 is?

I found a new weapon for Fang "Taming pole" but it is at level 1, I dismantled her current weapon which was about level 16 but was left with some useless bits. So I don't see the point in changing weapons when you already have a high level weapon. Its so stupid this weapon system.

I liked it in Final Fantasy IX when you just obtained new weapons equipped them and your character become more powerful.

And I still don't know/or have forgotten what is happening in this game. Fal cie? l'cie?

Got an exellent tip. That is one of her best weapons as well. Got Creature Comforts and buy 99 Barbed Tails. Keep adding 4 to the weapon until the multiplier gets to times 3. Should take about 32 Barbed Tails. Then use some with a lot of experience and you can get the first tier maxes at lvl 26 in no time.

Remember you can go into datalog for refreshing the story.

thanks for that! ;)

Finally got to that bit in the Northern Plains in Gran Pulse where you have those two beasts battle ecahother for some proper CP grinding

and am finishing the battle in about 1:45 netting those sweet 6600 cp everytime with my characters just over the 3000 hp mark

I ve set my party to Light / Snow and Sazh as COM/SEN/SYN so while Sazh buffs up my characters, Light keepes the stagger point on Bahamut King just below the limit, then I switch to relentless assault and finish Bahamut King in a few seconds and the other beast is not too much of a worry... having my characters over 3000 hp mark means they can take a hit or two from him, not that he gets a lot of chances

pretty much... until chapter 11 the game is very linear then it opens up... its like a different game altogether even in terms of world size

Also I dont really see myself returning to the game once I do the main story so Im trying to do as much of Gran Pulse as possible.... I have not entered Hoerba or whatver its called yet as I fear it wont let me explore anymore of granpulse
