I think the item is something like a visual accessory for applying to your party members or monsters or something. I found it somewhere in the menu but it was clearly of such intrest, I forgot what it was.

I think all you need to get from the prologue:
- Lightning is in a place called Valhalla
- She is locked in some eternal battle with some guy names Caius
- A boy named Noel Kreiss gets to Valhalla through time and space, Lightning asks him to get to to Serah to change the future.

Things become more comprehensible in the first couple of chapters. They tweaked the battle system a little to keep it interesting. Oh, and there are lots of tutorials. I'm currently near the end of chapter 2 and I've seen approximately 1,034,871 of them.

 Yeah, actually I really like the new menu system. Much better than the previous one - and I've seen the tutorials (although not read them yet). I'm going to just push straight ahead with this game and see how far I can get (on Easy) without getting bogged down in the backstory, etc.

Really enjoying what Ive played so far both gameplay and story wise. Only played hour and a half but already cant wait to give it good few hours tomorrow night. Enjoying being able to talk to NPCs. Guide worth it then for side quests?

From the brief glance I've had it since it arrived today, it seems like it'll be useful for some of the more cryptic quests.
I've been managing fine all weekend through simple exploration of the areas really. The majority of the quest items you need are already spawned so more often than not it's pretty much an instant completion.

I'm doing okay on this. Put in a few hours and I haven't been tw*tted once in any fight, so progress has been steady. I find the sheer amount of in-game options a bit overwhelming at times (the menu options just keep growing), but I'm definitely enjoying it, despite feeling slightly out of control a lot of the time. I can manage Paradigms and I can see the potential there, especially the vast scope for crafting very specific ones with selected monsters as the game goes on. Visually, the game can look extremely impressive, although the character models are many times better quality than some of the backgrounds. I like the new save system, too. Being able to save anywhere, anytime is great.

All in all, impressed. A good purchase. Feels more content-heavy than the previous game in terms of things to do and see inside the game world.

So, this is a bit good isn't it :shifty:

Graphics are a lot worse than they were in FFXIII, but it seems to run a bit better. The CG looks compressed too.

I played both XIII and 2 on the 360... I think XIII-2 looks slightly worse and also runs worse. I've noticed a lot of FPS drops that I don't seem to remember being in XIII, unless I just forgot about them. But I played XIII pretty recently and pretty sure it didn't drop as much as XIII-2. Still, they did a good job, one disc and all, doesn't look terrible and the drops aren't game breaking, just noticeable.

The music's pretty good - the usual strange mixture of overblown 80's synth and clumsy vocal J-pop, but there is good stuff there, just as there was in the previous game. Between the two iterations of XIII there is probably one solid album's worth of OST music.

I wish the battles weren't so fast; I can barely keep up in most them, and never really have time to strategize beyond flipping between Paradigms. Oddly, I seem to be doing okay, but I don't really like feeling that my victories have very little to do with me.

For Paradigm Shifts I found I've been managing pretty well with 3 basic sets of Com+Rav+Rav and Com+Rav+Rav with a Com+Com+Med for if it's a big beasty and I manage to stagger it before it dies.

Switching between the two Com+Rav builds is great for starting off with a full ATB guage every 2nd switch.

For some of the more complicated fights a Syn+Sab+Med build is good as well.

I think it's only slightly worse. There are some frame issues though

The frame rate does drop, but no where near as low as in XIII. The character models look to have fewer polygons too.

Well DLC is out aparently on 360 (PS3 tomorrow) adding Lightning and Lieutenant Amodar in the Coliseum. Also there seems to be a exclusive 360 weapon for Serah, "Azrael" for 80 points. Ill be tempted with the first one provided I dont need to have finished the game to beat them.

Yeah, I think I might bag the Lightning/Amodar pack too. Oh and beating them lets you use them as "monsters". Quite like the thought of Serah, Noel and Lightning kicking ass together.
