Third and final doc part is out, so here's all three.

It's well worth a watch.

Fellow adventurers... help!

I'm just getting back into the game (I've forgetten nearly everything :fp: ) and I'm trying to complete the first rank of my Hunting Log. I need to beat three "Spriggan Graverobbers". They're meant to be in the Central Thanalan / Black Brush area... but I've wandered about there and can't see any. Am I doing something silly?

I think this is way down a hill, much further below the normal path?

The main story takes you there at some stage, IIRC

jiggles, wow - thanks, man - I'll follow that map this evening!

Where did you source the info from, dude? It looks like something that I'd find very useful.

I typed Spriggan Graverobbers into Google dot com and clicked on the second link.

When I saw the map, I figured it was the place I described. That was just from memory.

I'd like to play this, but with MMO's playing them on your own is crap.

You can join teams ("Free Companies") and play missions with other random folk, Pedz. I'm not in a Company at the moment; I used to be in one that Seven belonged to but I stopped playing for a long time and we've both moved on to different servers now. Seven is on Balmung (a USA server, but it's full at present) and I'm on Omega (a new EU server).

Yeah, I don't do ransoms. I like chatting with people I know or sort of know. It's why I put years into WoW, I played with my bro-in-law and friends.

Hi, dude - please could the thread title be updated? Things have moved on and it's quite difficult to search for it with the current naming. I propose it could be "Final Fantasy XIV Online". Hope this is okay!

Man, the servers are still packed. I moved to a new server and I'm still waiting ages to log on! I'm currently 237th in the queue... that's down from 438th!

Yeah, congestion is still crazy. A few people might swing back for Omega on Tuesday but after that it should steadily drop off. I imagine it should be back to normality in a week or two since not that many people will come back for Omega Savage.

I've watched part one... it's terrific! I'm not familiar with noclip productions but this really was great; very professional and with an amazing amount of access behind the scenes at Square-Enix. I'm looking forward to watching parts 2 and 3... and discovering more about the rebirth of FF XIV!

For a more nitty-gritty mechanical analysis of just why 1.0 was a hot mess I'll keep pushing the Speakers of Haedelyn yt channel and their series "The Fall and Rise of FFXIV". It's pretty much the same deal but a good call if you're looking for more. They also have "Remnants of a Realm" where they look at environmental and lore aspects that either didn't make the jump to 2.0 or got completely changed, such as dungeon entrances caved in, Falcon's Next going from 2 buildings to a sprawling military outpost, or random structures that no longer really have any meaning like a dragon encased in amber in the shroud.

That sounds interesting, Met - thanks, I'll take a look after finishing the noclip episodes. It's amazing how the game developed from such a difficult start to become the great experience that it is now!

Thanks, Rubix :) .

After saying for *ages* that I would do... I've actually put some time into this over the past couple of days. I've almost got my head around rotating my attacks (alternating between fire and ice) to keep my magic power level up... and I've completed several of the main storyline steps. I'm up to level 17 and made it to (I forget the names...) Grandia and Lissom :toot: . It's wonderful to have new areas to explore; the fresh environments are great!

I joined a Free Company last night, too. I think it has just started out as there are five members  .

 Gridania and Limsa Lominsa.

Did you make it to the first dungeon yet? That's the point at which the game has really finished introducing all the major quest systems to you and you'll have a handle on everything you'll be doing for the rest of the story.
